To be determined based on experience Position Summary The Director of Development is a senior leadership role responsible for designing, leading, and executing a comprehensive, results-driven fundraising program to sustain and grow the mission of Family Services of Southeast Texas, Inc. This position is heavily focused on revenue generation through grants, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and fundraising events. The Director of Development will serve as the primary strategist and relationship-builder for all philanthropic efforts, ensuring diversified funding streams and long-term financial sustainability. This role works closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to cultivate a strong culture of philanthropy and expand the organization's donor base. Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or related field required
  • Master's degree or CFRE preferred Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising and development
  • Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals
  • Strong grant writing and grant management experience
  • Experience developing and managing donor pipelines and stewardship plans
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with donor management systems (CRM)
  • Knowledge of nonprofit compliance and fundraising best practices Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in victim services or social services
  • Established relationships with funders and community partners
  • Experience leading major fundraising initiatives
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred Key Responsibilities Strategic Fundraising Leadership
  • Develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy
  • Lead major gifts, grants, corporate giving, and events
  • Build and maintain a strong donor pipeline
  • Monitor fundraising performance and adjust strategies
  • Oversee grant research, writing, and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements
  • Collaborate with program staff on funding alignment Board and Executive Partnership
  • Work with Executive Director and Board on fundraising efforts
  • Support board engagement in donor cultivation
  • Provide regular fundraising reports Donor Relations and Stewardship
  • Develop donor stewardship strategies
  • Enhance donor engagement and retention
  • Oversee donor communications and recognition Community Engagement and External Relations
  • Represent the organization in the community
  • Build partnerships with businesses and organizations
  • Increase visibility and awareness Marketing and Fundraising Communications
  • Support fundraising campaigns through marketing
  • Oversee donor messaging and storytelling
  • Guide digital fundraising efforts Budgeting, Data, and Performance Management
  • Manage development budget
  • Track fundraising metrics and ROI
  • Maintain accurate donor records Work Environment
  • Office-based with community engagement
  • Evening and weekend work required for events Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel as needed
