Development Assistant STATUS:

Our Development Assistant helps uphold our values of Collaboration, Excellence, and Impact by maintaining a high level of organization and professionalism for the Center, interacting positively with staff, donors, community members, and decision-makers while maximizing productivity and efficiency.
FUNCTION
Reporting to the Director of Development, The Development Assistant is responsible for supporting fundraising activities, donor relations, and grant writing, with a focus on private foundation grant writing. The Development Assistant must be productive and organized, and willing to take the initiative to get things done. This position also requires strong written communication skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant Writing Support:
Research potential grant opportunities that align with the organization's mission and programs; Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and grant reports; Collaborate with program staff to gather relevant information and data for grant applications and reports; Ensure timely submission of grant proposals and compliance with grant requirements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; Create a calendar of grant deadlines and reporting schedules; Maintain open communication with team members responsible for data collection and reporting related to grants.
Donor Relations:
Assist in maintaining donor databases and records, ensuring accuracy and completeness; Schedule tours for supporters and partners to illustrate the unique services of the Center; Support stewardship with donor letters, acknowledgments, and recognition materials; Respond to donor inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner; Recruit and supervise interns and volunteers, keeping timesheets and assisting with completion of required documentation for schools as needed. Fundraising Activities:
Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events, including online and offline fundraising initiatives; Coordinate logistics for fundraising events, including venue bookings, catering arrangements, and guest lists; Track and report on fundraising goals, including donations received and donor retention; Collaborate with the development team and support the Director of Development for all fundraising efforts, including to brainstorm and implement fundraising strategies; Create engaging social media posts to grow our online footprint. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience). Three years of experience performing similar fundraising or administrative tasks
SPECIAL ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive grant proposals and compelling donor communications Excellent research skills, with the ability to gather and effectively synthesize information Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines Proficiency with office-based software packages, including Google and Microsoft applications; experience with donor management software preferred Previous experience in grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit development is a plus Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information Must be able to pass a fingerprint and criminal background check Any offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of new hire screenings, including background checks, drug testing, and professional reference checks.
