Job Description

Clay County Health Department - (PLAY Program)
Position:
Early Childhood Development Specialist Status :
Full-time, 40 hours per week, hourly. Schedule is flexible and non-traditional; based around program event need and families served.
Summary:
A certified parent educator implements the Parents as Teachers (PAT) Model, emphasizing parent-child interaction, developmental-centered parenting and family wellbeing in their work with families. They will maintain a caseload between 14-16 children for the first year and complete an adequate number of monthly visits to meet program model requirements. . They will provide education related to development and nurturing of infants/toddlers according to Parents as Teachers and ISBE requirements, complete detailed and accurate documentation and records adhering to PI grant guidelines, individualize program activities and approaches to meet the needs of the program, children and families of varying abilities as well as diverse, cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds, and participate in a variety of professional growth and development activities.
Requirements:
Associate's required. Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood, Family and Social Services, Family and Consumer Sciences or related field preferred. Minimum 2 years' experience working with young children and/or parents. Experience working with at risk populations preferred. Must be able to work independently. Good time management and organizational skills. Detail oriented and proficient Microsoft applications. Parents as Teachers Certification required (may be acquired after hire). Driver's license and reliable transportation required. Oral and written fluency required.
