Job Description
As a Community Impact Specialist, you will be focused on providing grant administration services to our EDA-appointed, 28-county region in Southwest Kansas. This includes meeting one-on-one with community leaders and stakeholders, helping them to plan and create lasting economic impact and social change. Professional extroverts- this is your time to shine! Because the employee will be asked to meet with counties and cities, there will be minimal travel included with this position. It will generally consist of driving to communities that have active projects, or are interested in a project. Travel expenses will be reimbursed. Also, because our organization is involved with regional, state, and national groups, there may be occasional travel outside of this. Grant writing and administrative duties consist of helping communities and applying entities navigate the grant realm and find the most suitable option for their project and goals, writing and/or administration of the grant, maintaining compliance with Federal and State agencies, and closing-out the project. While it is certainly not a requirement, we ask that candidates have a general understanding of grant writing and administration; understand/or are familiar with state and federal grant agencies such as CDBG, KDHE, KHRC, EDA, HUD, DOE, FEMA, etc. If you are not familiar with these agencies or grant writing, but have a strong desire to have a lasting impact on your region and have proficient writing and organization skills, please feel encouraged to apply! Because our organization is a non-profit, the Community Impact Specialist will also be asked to apply for philanthropic grants to support our organization's initiatives. This will consist of sourcing and applying for foundation grants, maintaining compliance with the awarded grants, and ensuring that the awarded project is seen through until completion of the project. The Community Impact Specialist will also, in-time, learn the organization's accounting system. As our organization will see changes in leadership within the next year, the Community Impact Specialist will learn how to manage the organization's bookkeeping, working with the Executive Director to maintain compliance. While there can be on-the-job learning for this, we do encourage the applicant to have some knowledge or understanding of bookkeeping.
