Ability to Obtain Public Trust We are searching for a Grants Management Specialist at all experience levels to support future needs at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The individual will support various extramural grant lifecycle activities such as intake, evaluation, award, and close-out related tasks to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the associated Institute and Centers (ICs). This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD or Baltimore, MD.
What You Will Do :
  • Provide administrative guidance to NIH staff and grantee representatives within established authority.
  • Maintain complete and organized documentation in accordance with federal and NIH requirements.
  • Work cooperatively with a variety of stakeholders such as Program Officers, Grants Management Officers, grantees, and sponsored research administrators to support timely, accurate, and compliant grant actions.
  • Conduct administrative and regulatory reviews of grant applications for compliance with NIH and HHS policies and procedures.
  • Review application components, budgets, and justifications for completeness and allowability.
  • Support processing of grant awards, amendments, supplements, and administrative actions.
  • Monitor active grant portfolios to ensure adherence to approved terms, conditions, and funding limitations.
  • Assist in resolving grant-related issues, administrative questions, or obtaining missing information in coordination with Program Officers, scientific and administrative staff, and grantee institutions.
  • Maintain accurate grant records in NIH grants systems and approved tracking tools, such as
IMPAC II.
  • Generate, analyze, and summarize reports related to funding status, workloads, and portfolio metrics.
  • Track deadlines, award actions, and outstanding documentation to support timely grant processing.
  • Interpret and apply statutes, regulations, NIH Grants Policy Statement, and internal procedures to assigned work; stay current on NIH policy updates and procedural changes affecting extramural grant administration.
What You Will Need :
Bachelor's degree. At least TWO (2) years of grants-related or administrative experience, Experience supporting or coordinating processes requiring regulatory compliance and detailed documentation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust. Candidates must receive approved adjudication of their Public Trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active Public Trust or existing suitability are preferred.
What Would Be Nice To Have :
Grants experience in a federal or regulated environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with grants management concepts and the extramural grant lifecycle, strongly desired.
  • Administrative and regulatory review skills.
Budget review and funding analysis support. Data tracking and reporting. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders. The annual salary range for this position is $65,000.00-$108,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
