Development Associate 1 (Full-time)
Position Available:
Immediately Mission The Museum's mission is "to serve as America's resource for nuclear history and science. The Museum presents exhibits and quality educational programs that convey the diversity of individuals and events that shape the historical and technical context of the nuclear age. Overview The Development Associate plays a vital role in advancing the organization's mission by supporting comprehensive fundraising and membership strategies. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, and relationship-driven professional who will oversee donor database management, support the grant lifecycle, and assist with membership appeals. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate, up-to-date donor records in the organization's CRM (e.g., Bloomerang). Process donations, reconcile records with the finance team, and generate timely, accurate tax acknowledgment and stewardship letters. Generate regular reports on fundraising and membership metrics and donor retention to inform strategy Membership Program Management Serve as the primary point of contact for museum members, handling inquiries, renewals, upgrades, and benefits fulfillment. Execute membership renewal cycles, including mailing physical notices and launching digital renewal campaigns. Analyze membership data to track acquisition, retention, and churn rates to improve retention strategies. Collaborate with marketing to develop promotional materials for membership drives, onsite visitor recruitment, and digital acquisition. Fundraising Campaigns & Appeals Support the execution of key fundraising campaigns (e.g., Annual Appeals, Operation Preservation and other special campaigns) by managing administrative tasks and donor communications. Assist in writing, editing, and formatting newsletters, appeal letters, and digital content. Conduct prospect research on individuals, corporations, and foundations to help grow the donor pipeline. Grant Support & Administration Assist the Development Director with the grant lifecycle, including maintaining the grants calendar for submission and reporting deadlines. Help prepare grant proposals, gather necessary attachments, and submit required progress reports. Event Support Manage event registration lists, sponsor tracking, and in-kind donations. Staff events, which may include occasional evening or weekend hours.
Qualifications and Skills Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, or program/project management.
Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with donor management software (e.g., Bloomerang or other fundraising software) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate the organization's mission compellingly and professionally.
Organizational Skills:
Exceptional project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Access to reliable transportation to attend outreach events and to pick up silent auction items

Director of Development Basic Work Week:
The position is a full-time, non-exempt hourly position with 40 hours/week.
Benefits:
Medical, Dental, and Vision after 90 days, Matching 401K after 6 months. Paid sick leave, vacation, and 7 paid holidays.
