The HCV Specialist works to increase the number of people who use drugs (PWUD) receiving Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) screenings, linking HCV+ individuals to care, and raising awareness about HCV among other providers and potential new patients. This role also stays up to date on trends and best practices with caring for HCV and other chronic and bloodborne illnesses. As part of the essential functions of this role, the
HCV Specialist :
Completes HCV screenings with patients who report risk factors, especially injection drug use Maintains proficiency with new point-of-care testing technology, rapid tests, dry blood spots, and other relevant tools. Ensures HCV+ patients are aware of treatment options, documents patients' readiness for care, and effectively links to care where appropriate Conducts and documents all outreach to patients who have received screening and are eligible for additional services Provides and follows up on referrals to other Evergreen Health or external Qualified candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in health, human or education services and one (1) year of relevant experience or Associate degree in health, human or education services and two (2) years of relevant experience or High School diploma/GED, and three (3) years of relevant experience; fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (with Spanish a plus) ; ability to travel to all Evergreen locations and off-site program activities as needed Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally Familiarity with computers and MS Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) preferred; awareness of and sensitivity to the issues and health disparities faced by underserved populations is essential Job type:
Full-time Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in health, human or education services and one (1) year of relevant experience or Associate degree in health, human or education services and two (2) years of relevant experience or High School diploma/GED, and three (3) years of relevant experience This position is posted with a salary range. The actual rate of pay offered will be based on a variety of individualized factors, including but not limited to a candidate's skills, relevant experience, educational background, internal equity, and market considerations.
