Company Description Harlem Commonwealth Council, Inc. (HCC) is a 501(c)(3) community development organization committed to advancing economic opportunity in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx and strengthening the vibrant multicultural communities it serves. Since 1967, HCC has supported the greater Harlem community through business development, academic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and programs that foster self-sufficiency and long-term economic mobility. Role Description Grant Development & Management Research, identify, and pursue funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and institutional funders aligned with HCC's mission and strategic priorities. Lead the preparation, writing, editing, and submission of competitive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, funding applications, and sponsorship proposals. Develop and maintain a grants calendar to track opportunities, deadlines, reporting requirements, and renewals. Collaborate with program, finance, and leadership teams to collect programmatic data, budgets, outcomes, and impact stories to strengthen funding proposals. Prepare and submit timely grant reports, funder updates, and compliance documentation. Fundraising & Donor Management Develop and implement donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and retention strategies to strengthen philanthropic support for HCC. Build and manage relationships with individual donors, major donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, community stakeholders, and funding partners. Maintain donor databases, fundraising records, prospect pipelines, and donor communications. Support annual giving initiatives, sponsorship campaigns, online fundraising efforts, and donor appreciation activities. Work closely with executive leadership and board members to support donor outreach and fundraising initiatives. Special Events & Gala Management Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of HCC's fundraising events, including annual galas, donor receptions, community engagement activities, and special campaigns. Develop event work plans, budgets, sponsorship packages, vendor contracts, timelines, and promotional strategies. Coordinate event logistics, sponsorship acquisition, volunteer engagement, guest management, and post-event follow-up activities. Monitor event performance metrics, revenue goals, and donor engagement outcomes. Corporate, Community & Strategic Partnerships Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with corporations, community organizations, foundations, government stakeholders, and civic leaders. Identify sponsorship, partnership, and collaborative funding opportunities that advance HCC's mission and programs. Represent HCC at community events, networking opportunities, stakeholder meetings, and external engagements. Resource Development Strategy & Reporting Support the development and implementation of HCC's annual resource development and fundraising strategy. Monitor fundraising goals, revenue performance, donor metrics, and development activities. Prepare development reports, dashboards, and updates for executive leadership, board committees, and stakeholders. Ensure fundraising activities comply with applicable regulations, donor requirements, and organizational policies. Other Duties Perform other related duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the organization.

Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Administration, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred. Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, grant writing, donor relations, or resource mobilization. Proven track record of securing grants, cultivating donor relationships, and managing fundraising initiatives. Demonstrated experience coordinating fundraising events, galas, sponsorship programs, and donor engagement activities. Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Experience using donor management systems (CRM platforms), fundraising software, and Microsoft Office applications. Strong organizational, project management, and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
