Founded in 1972 by migrant farmworkers, Centro serves as a hub for Latino culture, economic empowerment, policy advocacy and civic engagement, supportive housing and stabilization, comprehensive food security services, community health and wellness, senior programming; and
K-12 STEM

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Development Associate supports the advancement of Centro Cultural's fundraising strategy through donor engagement, stewardship, campaign support, events, and development operations. This role contributes to building and sustaining strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners while supporting revenue growth and diversification efforts. Working closely with the Development Director, the Development Associate plays a key role in donor communications, fundraising initiatives, stewardship activities, and development systems that strengthen organizational sustainability and community investment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Support implementation of fundraising strategies through donor engagement, stewardship, campaigns, events, and community partnerships. Coordinate donation processing, donor records, acknowledgments, reporting, and fundraising data systems to ensure accuracy, integrity, and effective tracking. Develop and implement donor communications, campaign materials, stewardship activities, and fundraising outreach to strengthen donor relationships and engagement. Assist with planning and execution of fundraising events, annual giving efforts, sponsorship activities, and other development initiatives. Monitor fundraising progress and support reporting, grant coordination, and collaboration across development, finance, communications, and program teams. Serve as a collaborative partner across development, communications, and program teams to support integrated fundraising and engagement efforts. On-site presence required 4 days per week at the discretion of the supervisor. Attend mandatory in-person meetings. Other duties as assigned.
NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Support broader communications and outreach efforts as needed. Assist with content gathering for marketing, social media, and donor storytelling. Represent Centro Cultural at events and community engagements as appropriate. Provide administrative support to development leadership as needed. Bachelor's degree in social sciences, nonprofit management, or related field preferred (or equivalent lived/professional experience). Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across teams. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience facilitating training or group presentations. Ability to use computer programs including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and CRM databases. Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with supervisors and team members. Bilingual English-Spanish preferred. Requirements Highschool diploma or equivalent Minimum 2-4 years of experience in development, fundraising, or donor relations Excellent verbal and written communication skills Basic financial acumen Complete and pass a Background Check Possess current driver's license and auto insurance coverage Ability to travel out of town to attend workshops or trainings Occasional evening and weekend work Reliable transportation Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is approximately 60% in an office environment and 40% in community locations for programmatic and volunteer engagement activities. Office working conditions are standard for an office environment. Community locations include Centro Cultural sites, partner locations, events, and outreach settings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will: Engage in regular communication in person as well as through electronic means Routinely use computer laptops, tablets, desk phones, photocopiers, and monitors, including digital screens Ability to sit and stand for extended periods Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds Travel between sites and community locations as needed Centro Cultural is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
