Job Description:
The Development Associate serves as the primary coordinator of fundraising deliverables and written materials for the Development Department. Working closely with the Deputy Director of Development and Development Director, the Development Associate ensures grant proposals, reports, letters of inquiry, stewardship materials, and other fundraising communications are completed accurately, on time, and aligned with organizational priorities. The Development Associate serves as the day-to-day project manager for fundraising deliverables, helping gather information, draft narratives, assemble application materials, maintain fundraising records, and coordinate the systems and processes necessary to support revenue generation and strong funder relationships. Primary Responsibilities Coordinate the preparation, drafting, assembly, and submission of grant proposals, reports, letters of inquiry, and other fundraising materials. Manage fundraising deliverables, deadlines, calendars, and reporting requirements to ensure commitments are completed accurately and on time. Research funding opportunities, gather organizational information, and maintain institutional knowledge to support fundraising efforts. Draft funder communications, stewardship materials, meeting briefings, and other written content in partnership with Development Department staff. Maintain fundraising records, relationship information, and project tracking systems while supporting the overall operations of the Development Department. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
Strong writing, editing, research, and communication skills. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Experience coordinating complex projects, managing deliverables, and moving work from planning to completion. Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and translate it into clear, compelling written materials. Comfort working independently, learning new systems, and collaborating across departments. Familiarity with fundraising, grant writing, nonprofit development, advocacy organizations, or related fields preferred. Applicants must share a strong commitment to Florida Rising's mission and be able to draw others into Florida Rising work. Self-motivated; ability to take initiative and to manage multiple projects; and ability to work independently. Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team to advance the mission/goals of the organization. Ability to interact with and understand people of various social, cultural, economic, and education backgrounds. Fluency in English is required, and capacity in Spanish or Haitian Creole is beneficial. Some local and statewide travel expected; occasional out-of-state travel may be required Reliable means of transportation Salary to commensurate with experience.
