LEAP for Education is currently recruiting for a Donor Engagement Specialist. This is a senior professional level position responsible for providing key support to the Director of Advancement in pursuit of LEAP's annual and longer-term fundraising goals. This role directly engages with, solicits, and provides quality experiences for current and prospective donors through various modes, focusing on fostering meaningful, long-term relationships. In addition, the Specialist supports mission and brand awareness through active community networking, segmented communications, contributes to special events and projects, supports occasional grant writing and other advancement activities as assigned. The ideal candidate will be committed to LEAP's mission which is to support youth in their personal, educational, and career growth by partnering with the community to increase opportunities and advance equity. Maintain accurate donor records, engagement tracking, and advancement systems within CRM platforms. Provide strategic, personalized and rewarding donor experiences for new, lapsed, and future annual donors, with goals of deepening these relationships, increasing their giving and retaining support each year. Engage in all portions of the relationship-based donor cycle: discovery (e.g. meeting and speaking with donors to learn more about them, helping to qualify potential for greater and varied giving), cultivation and solicitations (e.g. sharing updates on programs/needs and asking for support for annual campaign, special events and projects, and other identified organizational needs), and stewardship (e.g. handwritten thank you notes for gifts made; phone calls and emails; regularly reporting back on impact made). Grow the donor base and future major gifts and recurring supporter pipelines by proactively identifying and engaging with prospective and qualified supporters, as well as leveraging current donors and volunteers and their connections and networks. Support donor segmentation and campaigns/appeals. Support the Advancement team in creating/maintaining worthwhile donor/prospect/volunteer/partner-focused and other segmented lists, conceptualizing select digital/print communications especially segmented and other appeals (to be designed by in-house designer) and leading related vendor communications/ordering; designing strategies and action plans for executing on those campaigns to achieve goals; assisting with e-newsletters, student, alumni, and supporter profiles/stories, etc. Work with the staff team and volunteers to help plan, execute and follow up on occasional events (both small and larger events) taking place at companies, private homes and the organization's chief annual fundraiser, among other locations as well as virtually. Learn, use and help to improve the quality of information within the fundraising database, Google Drive and Google Advancement Calendar, and complete other development and administrative tasks, donor research and special projects as assigned. Engage in limited direct "cold" solicitation to prospective (primarily corporate) supporters vis a vis LEAP's large annual fundraiser. SKILL REQUIRED
Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills: will be responsible for meeting key deadlines and following through on all commitments Strong interpersonal skills and ability to think well on one's feet Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work well within a team environment Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Google Suite (G-mail, G-Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) ADDITIONAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Familiarity with social media channels, especially LinkedIn, and direct mail services such as Constant Contact, is preferred Familiarity with special event software solutions is preferred Prior fundraising/development/nonprofit experience is not required, though it is helpful Familiarity with CRM systems QUALIFICATIONS
High school degree or equivalent plus 3 to 5+ years of relevant experience, or Associate's degree or higher with 2 to 4+ years of relevant experience (experience e.g. sales, retail management, relationship building, partnership development, volunteer recruitment) Ability to work independently with initiative, as well as in a team environment; highly attentive to timeliness and responsiveness necessary to meet the information needs of a fast-moving, dynamic organization Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to act in a professional manner with donors, trustees, and other constituents Detail-oriented, with commitments to honesty, accuracy, consistency and discretion, maintaining confidentiality for donors, prospects, volunteers, students and fellow employees LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
Will work under general supervision of the Director of Advancement, alongside other members of the Advancement Team. Makes decisions within clearly prescribed areas referring matters that fall outside that area to others. Recommends actions and alternatives to supervisor and others. Receives donor/colleagues questions and responds within prescribed areas of knowledge. Will have frequent, direct contact with current and prospective donors. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
This is an in person position. Work Environment and Hazards Normal office working environment with occasional remote work if/as desired and arranged; generally free from noise and hazards with occasional exposure to heat and cold. This position has limited exposure to hazards that require the exercise of caution with little likelihood of injury. Physical Demands/Efforts A desk-based position with occasional need to lift objects up to 25 lbs.
