Position Summary The Early Learning Specialist supports early childhood education (ECE) programs, centers, and schools through strengths-based coaching, technical assistance, career advising, and professional development. This position plays a key role in improving quality, advancing educator competencies, and supporting organizational initiatives such as Keystone STARS, PHL-pre-K, PKC, Family Childcare (FCC), and NAEYC accreditation. Working both independently and collaboratively, the Specialist builds strong relationships with educators, leaders, and community partners. This role requires regional travel and the use of technology for off-site work.
Compensation:
$48,250-$55,000 Key Responsibilities Work as part of First Up's workforce team and ensure positive relationships with all project partners and participants through effective communication, meeting attendance, and collaboration. Participate in First Up events and public policy activities as needed. Support the coaches to provide environments and opportunities which promote the child's growth and development for any of the developmental domains (language and literacy, health, and physical development, approaches to learning, social emotional development, creative arts, science, mathematics). Provide coaching, and professional development opportunities as assigned through collaborations with other partners, agencies, fee for service work, or as required by funders. Teach/facilitate professional development courses. Design, plan, deliver and market high quality professional development courses and communities of practice based on learner needs using adult learning principles, cultural competencies, and current research. Other duties as assigned. Education Bachelor's degree in education or equivalent experience. Qualifications 3+ years' experience as an ECE practitioner in an early childhood program. Knowledge of NAEYC Core Competencies Knowledge of state assessment tools (ECERS, ITERS, FCCRS) Ability to employ a variety of consultation and coaching strategies that are based on appropriate and culturally competent practices and the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct. Knowledge of PA DHS and PDE requirements for ECE programs. Bilingual in Spanish preferred Expertise in one or more of these specialty areas: Learning Program; Curriculum and Assessment; Child Development; Career Advising, Professional Growth and Development; Family Engagement; Community Partnerships; and/or Social/Emotional Learning.
