Jesse Tree is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing eviction and homelessness. We provide crucial support and resources to individuals and families facing housing instability, helping them maintain their homes and regain stability in their lives.
Position Overview:
Jesse Tree is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented VISTA AmeriCorps Grant Writer to join our team. This role is essential in strengthening our fundraising capacity by securing funding from corporate and foundation donors. The VISTA Grant Writer will work closely with the development team to research grant opportunities, write compelling proposals, and cultivate relationships with corporate and foundation partners to expand Jesse Tree's impact.
Main Objectives:
Grant Writing and Fund Development Research and identify potential grant opportunities from corporate and foundation donors. Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals and reports aligned with Jesse Tree's mission and funding priorities. Develop a grant calendar to track application deadlines, reporting requirements, and funding cycles. Collaborate with program staff to gather data, stories, and outcomes to strengthen grant applications. Corporate and Foundation Donor Engagement Research and support the building of relationships with corporate and foundation donors. Develop tailored sponsorship and partnership proposals to engage corporate funders. Maintain a donor database to track corporate and foundation contributions and engagement activities. Assist in creating impact reports and recognition materials to steward and retain donors. Capacity Building and Outreach Develop outreach materials, including presentations and brochures, to engage corporate and foundation supporters. Represent Jesse Tree at networking events, corporate meetings, and fundraising activities. Support strategic planning for long-term corporate and foundation fundraising efforts. Identify opportunities for corporate volunteer engagement and in-kind support.
Qualifications:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on persuasive writing. Experience with grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit development is a plus. Research and analytical skills to identify funding opportunities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Passion for Jesse Tree's mission and commitment to preventing eviction and homelessness.
Benefits:
An opportunity to receive college internship credits and get paid; Flexible hours; Preference for government jobs after the year of service is completed; $1,755 monthly living allowance & $250/month grocery & gas stipend, with additional $400 monthly housing stipend after three months of service; $6,895 educational stipend at the end of the 12 months of service; Government health care and child care; An option to put student loans in forbearance during service as interest accrued is paid by the program; and 10 days of paid time off and 10 federal holidays during the year of service.
