The Chief of Staff directly supervises a wide range of administrative services and operational support activities, including executive support, accounting and payroll oversight, purchasing, budget-related processing, records administration, coordination of staff workflow, crime analysis reporting, property and evidence supervision, and IACLEA Accreditation management. The Chief of Staff functions as a key administrative advisor to Department leadership and is responsible for analyzing and interpreting policies, establishing and maintaining administrative procedures, monitoring internal controls, and ensuring accountability and stewardship of Departmental operational support, financial management, payroll reconciliation, and personnel matters. The position exercises independent supervisory responsibility over skilled technical support staff and/or assigned personnel, including managing workflow, setting expectations, monitoring performance, training staff, resolving operational conflict, evaluating the effectiveness of operations, and recommending performance improvement actions, as necessary to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. The Chief of Staff also serves as the Department's IACLEA Accreditation Manager and leads accreditation and reaccreditation planning, compliance monitoring, standards implementation, policy coordination, documentation management, and assessment preparation. The Chief of Staff partners with Command Staff and functional unit leaders to ensure professional standard compliance, organizational accountability, continuous process improvement, and operational readiness. The full salary range for the Chief of Staff is $84,100 - $154,700 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $120,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, years of licensure experience, and other business and organizational needs. Required This position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and, as a CSA, persons in this role are required to report crimes, incidents, and disciplinary referral statistics as required by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 USC 1092(f)). required Required Strong supervisory and leadership skills, including the ability to direct staff, assign work, establish performance expectations, monitor productivity, provide coaching, assess effectiveness, and recommend personnel-related actions. Solid knowledge of administrative operations, including payroll, purchasing, budget tracking, financial processes, records administration, internal controls, and office management practices. Ability to interpret, apply, and communicate organizational policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, and to develop recommendations for administrative and operational improvements. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, professionalism, and diplomacy in handling highly sensitive and confidential information. Excellent interpersonal, advising, and relationship-management skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with leadership, staff, University partners, outside agencies, and members of the public. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate complex issues, identify alternatives, and implement effective and policy-compliant solutions Expertise using spreadsheet applications, word-processing software, database systems, presentation software, and organization-specific administrative systems. Ability to prepare and deliver presentations, briefings, and training to Department staff, leadership, and community stakeholders. Ability to work independently while also providing effective supervision, coordination, and collaboration across functions and organizational levels. Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in adjusting priorities, assignments, and operational approaches to meet evolving Departmental goals and service demands. Working knowledge and understanding of the criminal and civil judicial systems. Solid skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify resolution. Solid knowledge of the organization's processes, protocols and procedures with a focus on budget, account and fund management and/or personnel management within labor contract(s) and personnel policy.
