Automotive General Manager

General Manager (GM) at a Hyundai dealership is responsible for the overall performance, profitability, and culture of the dealership , overseeing all departments including sales, service, parts, finance, and administration. OEM experience is preferred, but strong dealership leadership and operational success are the biggest factors. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Lead all dealership operations (new & used sales, service, parts and F&I) Drive profitability, market share, and customer satisfaction (CSI) Hire, train, coach, and evaluate department managers Monitor KPIs including gross profit, unit sales, service retention, and inventory turns Develop budgets, forecasts, and annual business plans Build strong OEM relationships with representatives Ensure compliance with manufacturer standards and dealership policies Improve employee retention and dealership culture Analyze financial statements and adjust operations for performance improvement Qualifications commonly expected: 5+ years of automotive dealership leadership experience (often previous GM or GSM roles) Proven record of increasing sales and profitability Strong understanding of dealership financial statements Experience with inventory control and forecasting Leadership and team-building ability Customer satisfaction and retention focus OEM/manufacturer experience preferred (Hyundai experience is a plus)

Compensation:

GM compensation varies widely by store size and performance, often including: Compensation based on dealership performance Vehicle allowance
