Job Description

  • Chief of Staff - PBT
  • YOUR
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The primary responsibilities of this role, Chief of Staff - Plant Biotechnology (PBT), are to: + Partner with the PB Home Lead to translate strategic priorities into structured PB-wide initiatives and governance mechanisms aligned with DSO principles; + Ensure alignment and coherence across all PB hubs and work units, strengthening the structural interface between PB and R D to drive shared priorities, transparency, and decision clarity; + Identify cross-capability interdependencies, risks, and trade-offs, and proactively elevate them to leadership to enable informed, timely decisions; + Lead enterprise-level initiatives sponsored by the PB Capability Home Lead that require coordination across teams, driving structured planning, milestone tracking, and disciplined follow-through for PB-wide initiatives; + Facilitate resolution of systemic bottlenecks while maintaining clear functional accountability within each Capability Hub or Work Unit, ensuring initiative outcomes align with PB strategy and enterprise objectives; + Design and support leadership forums, decision pathways, and escalation mechanisms across the PB capability home, promoting consistency, discipline, and transparency in leadership operating rhythms; + Act as a DSO champion to elevate and improve DSO proficiency across leadership mini pods and formal decision-making bodies, while monitoring platform health indicators and strategic initiative progress; + Prepare strategic materials, executive narratives, and enterprise-level communications, supporting stakeholder alignment across regions and enterprise functions; + Act as a trusted advisor and confidential thought partner to the Plant Biotechnology Home Lead, enabling effective executive decision-making and impact.
  • WHO YOU ARE
  • Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: + Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives and manage complex projects, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data and make informed decisions; + Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and align stakeholders at all levels across functions and regions; + Demonstrated leadership in guiding teams to define outcomes that deliver on the mission (Visionary), shaping value-creating systems that unleash people's passion and energy (Architect), removing roadblocks to facilitate connection and collaboration (Catalyst), and coaching teams to learn and build capabilities that create value for customers and stakeholders (Coach); + Strong ability to collaborate and build cross-functional partnerships to solve business or technical problems, fostering a culture of high performance and inclusive teamwork.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • + Minimum of 5 years of experience in management or operations with a strong track record of leadership in a senior role, including leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
This posting will be available for application until at least May 4, 2026. Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $178,880.00 to $268,320.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
