Under the direction and guidance of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VPIA) and working closely with the Athletics Director, the Associate Vice President for Development, Athletics is an integral part of the university's Institutional Advancement team. In fulfilling this role and its related responsibilities, the Associate Vice President for Development, Athletics assists the Advancement team in achieving the University's goals and objectives in the areas of Capital Fundraising, Planned Giving, Annual Fund Giving, and Advancement Services. The Associate Vice President for Development, Athletics possesses a comprehensive track record of fundraising accomplishments, constituent relations, and demonstrated capacity to work within a team environment. Working with the VPIA, the Associate Vice President for Development, Athletics serves as a key presence in the University community, particularly the Department of Athletics, conveying a clear sense of focus, competency and credibility to those who invest in and support the University's mission.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Create and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising plan for Campbell Athletics. Initiate, cultivate, solicit and steward all gift prospects for all approved university fundraising priorities; oversee the portfolio of major giving donors. Identify priority prospects for annual and major gifts and implement fundraising strategies. Set fundraising goals with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement for specific metrics, including but not limited to dollars raised, contacts made, and proposals submitted. Prepare the President, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Athletics Director and others with appropriate prospect and donor information as needed. Develop relationships with alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends leading to solicitation of gifts that will result in increasing both the number and size of contributions. Work closely with Institutional Advancement to identify new qualified major gift prospect alums, parents, friends, corporations, and foundations. Write proposals for major gift requests for capital project naming opportunities, unrestricted giving, sport-specific support, and other priorities as determined by the Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Identify and coordinate the efforts of volunteers and other staff members to be involved in the cultivation and solicitation process, as appropriate. Assist in fundraising efforts across the spectrum of the University. Oversee assigned staff in the Fighting Camel Club. Work effectively and cooperatively with constituency groups across campus divisions. Other job-related duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.Education/Experience:
Four-year college degree required. Master's Degree desired. Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, nonprofit organizations, intercollegiate athletics, or a related field, with demonstrated expertise in fundraising, donor stewardship, and prospect cultivation, preferred. Supervisory or management experience preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels. Maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail are essential. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet. Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials and the public. Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people. Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations. Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines. Detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment.
