Commensurate with experience. Position Summary Minot State University, an NCAA II institution, is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Business Manager. This part-time, 12-month position is responsible for organizing, developing, and assisting in several facets of business operations. Position Summary The Part-Time Assistant Business Manager provides financial oversight and operational support for the Athletics Department. This role is responsible for maintaining budget integrity, managing purchasing processes (including P-Cards), and developing clear, actionable financial reporting tools such as budget dashboards. The position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively with coaches, administrators, and central finance offices. Key Responsibilities Budget Management & Oversight Assist in the development, monitoring, and reconciliation of departmental and team budgets Track revenues and expenditures to ensure alignment with institutional policies and allocated resources Identify variances and provide timely recommendations to address budget discrepancies Support annual budget planning cycles and mid-year projections Financial Reporting & Dashboard Development Design, maintain, and enhance a dynamic budget dashboard for Athletics leadership Produce regular financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc) that summarize key trends and insights Translate financial data into user-friendly formats for non-financial stakeholders Ensure data accuracy and consistency across reporting systems Procurement & P-Card Administration Oversee Purchasing Card (P-Card) usage, reconciliation, and compliance Review and approve transactions to ensure adherence to institutional, state, and NCAA guidelines Provide training and guidance to staff on proper purchasing procedures Serve as liaison with the institution's finance office regarding procurement policies Compliance & Controls Ensure all financial activities comply with institutional policies, applicable regulations, and audit standards Maintain documentation for audits and internal reviews Assist in implementing internal controls to safeguard departmental assets Operational Support Collaborate with coaches and staff on budget planning, travel expenses, and purchasing needs Support contract tracking, vendor payments, and expense processing Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and systems Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Demonstrated experience in budget management, financial reporting, or accounting support Strong proficiency in spreadsheet and financial software tools (e.g., Excel) High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications Experience in public sector finance Familiarity with NCAA financial and compliance considerations Experience building dashboards or data visualization tools Knowledge of enterprise financial systems and procurement platforms Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights clearly Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Discretion in handling sensitive financial information Collaborative approach with strong interpersonal communication skills Problem-solving mindset with a focus on process improvement Working Conditions Office-based with occasional need to support Athletics events or deadlines Flexible scheduling within the 19-hour weekly limit Additional Information This is a part-time, non-benefited position limited to 19 hours per week. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required background checks and adherence to institutional policies.
