JOB SUMMARY
The Vice President of Advancement leads and integrates fundraising, donor relations, marketing, communications, and public relations to ensure these functions operate as a cohesive, mission driven system. This role moves beyond traditional development management to serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team, strengthening donor confidence, brand credibility, and contributed revenue while embedding dignity, accountability, and alignment across all external engagement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintain knowledge and understanding of Northern Nevada HOPES' mission, vision, and philosophy and support these tenets while conducting agency business. Model HOPES Organizational Values by demonstrating and reinforcing dignity, inclusion, trust, and accountability in all decisions and interactions. Provide strategic leadership for the Department of Advancement, ensuring fundraising, marketing, communications, and public relations are aligned with organizational mission and priorities. Develop and maintain an enterprise level Advancement strategy that advances the mission through aligned relationships, reputation, and resources. Ensure disciplined portfolio management and performance accountability across Advancement staff, including oversight of donor caseloads, moves management, and revenue forecasting tied to measurable outcomes. Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities and strategic partnerships, including corporate, foundation, and innovative funding models aligned with organizational growth priorities. Maintain accountability for annual private contributed revenue, including major gifts and individual donor strategies. (Responsible for individual fundraising goal within the overall agency goal also). Partner closely with the CEO and Board to lead donor engagement, external relationships, and advancement strategy. Lead a culture of philanthropy across the organization by engaging executive leadership, providers, and staff in advancement efforts, ensuring alignment between patient impact, storytelling, and donor engagement. Work collaboratively with CEO to oversee donor cultivation, stewardship, portfolio management, and relationship based fundraising practices. Establish Advancement goals, key performance indicators, and dashboards to measure revenue performance, donor engagement, stewardship quality, and visibility. Oversee marketing, communications, and public relations strategy to ensure consistent, mission aligned messaging across all external channels. Strengthen philanthropy operations including CRM integrity, gift processing, acknowledgements, compliance, reporting, and data accuracy. Develop, manage, and monitor the Advancement department budget to ensure fiscal stewardship and alignment with financial targets. Lead, coach, and develop Advancement leadership staff through clear expectations, regular one on one meetings, performance feedback, and professional development. Collaborate across departments to ensure alignment between Advancement activities and clinical, operational, and strategic objectives. Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, partners, consultants, and community stakeholders. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Seven (7) or more years of experience in marketing, fundraising, advancement, development, or a closely related leadership role required Demonstrated success in relationship based fundraising and relationship development required Strong strategic, analytical, and communication skills required Experience partnering with executive leadership and boards of directors preferred. Familiarity with CRM systems and fundraising data/reporting preferred. Experience overseeing both fundraising and marketing/communications functions preferred. Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or complex community based organizations preferred. Due to real and potential conflicts of interest that exist when HOPES Behavioral Health providers render services to their coworkers, it is HOPES' policy (Policy HR0005) that HOPES employees may not access HOPES Behavioral Health Services. For the same reason, current Behavioral Health patients/clients cannot be employed by HOPES. Accordingly, you hereby acknowledge and understand that if you are receiving services from a HOPES Behavioral Health provider at the time you are offered and accept employment with HOPES, you have the option of rescinding your acceptance of employment or finding a new behavioral health provider outside of HOPES before starting employment with HOPES.
