The Role The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is the operational right hand to the General Manager and owns execution across both front-of-house (customer experience, sales floor leadership) and back-of-house (inventory, compliance, and product flow) with a primary FOH/BOH focus on a rotating basis.
This is a hybrid leadership role responsible for ensuring the dispensary runs smoothly from receiving dock to sales floor. The AGM leads by example supporting staff, enforcing compliance, optimizing inventory accuracy, and ensuring every customer interaction meets CJ's standards.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable on the sales floor, in the vault, or reviewing compliance logs, and thrives in a fast-paced, regulated retail environment. What You'll Own Day-to-Day Store Operations Own the smooth execution of daily dispensary operations across both front-of-house and back-of-house functions, ensuring the store runs efficiently from open to close. Team Leadership & Performance Develop, coach, and support budtenders, supervisors, and inventory staff while setting expectations for service, accountability, and operational excellence. Customer Experience & Sales Execution Own the in-store guest experience, ensuring exceptional service, strong product education, efficient floor flow, and consistent achievement of sales goals. Compliance & Regulatory Integrity Enforce all Ohio cannabis regulations and company SOPs, ensuring strict ID verification, audit readiness, accurate documentation, and full operational compliance. Inventory, Cash & Operational Accuracy Maintain accuracy and control across inventory, POS transactions, and cash management systems while supporting reconciliation, audits, and discrepancy resolution. Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Use sales, POS, and operational data to identify trends, improve processes, and support informed decision-making alongside the General Manager.
Required:
Minimum 2 years of retail management or team leadership experience Strong knowledge of cannabis products, consumption methods, and effects (or willingness to learn rapidly) Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills Demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and retain a high-performing team Proficiency with POS systems and basic data analysis Must be 21 years of age or older Ability to pass a state-required background check
Preferred:
Prior cannabis dispensary or regulated retail experience Familiarity with Ohio Division of Cannabis Control regulations Experience with Sweed, Dutchie, or similar cannabis POS platforms Experience with seed-to-sale tracking systems like Metrc Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
