Job Description
Are you a Board-Certified Physiatrist with a passion for leadership, innovation, and veteran care? The Nashville VA Medical Center seeks a dynamic Chief of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service (PM&RS) to oversee and revolutionize our comprehensive rehabilitation programs.
Role and Responsibilities:
As the senior management official for PM&RS, you will be responsible for all clinical, administrative, educational, and research activities within the service. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, you will lead a dedicated team of PM&RS physicians, staff therapists, ancillary healthcare providers, and administrative support staff.Key responsibilities include:
Leadership & Supervision:
Directly supervise and mentor PM&RS team members. Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.Program Management:
Plan, develop, coordinate, direct, and evaluate an extensive physical medicine rehabilitation program across multiple sites, including VA medical centers, outpatient clinics, and contract clinics in Middle Tennessee and North Georgia.Clinical Excellence:
Provide direct patient care and consultation in support of primary care, acute medicine, surgery, psychiatry, nursing home units, rehabilitation clinics, hospice, and more.Educational Leadership:
Ensure robust educational activities for VA staff. Facilitate professional development and enforce VA-required training.Quality Assurance:
Maintain high standards of healthcare delivery, meeting community, state, and federal standards including VHA, JCAHO, and CARF.Research Facilitation:
Support and foster research initiatives in rehabilitation services and technologies, ensuring alignment with veteran needs and securing funding support.Stakeholder Communication:
Maintain active communication and coordination with the Chief of Staff, GRECC Director, academic affiliates, and other key stakeholders.Academic and Professional Requirements:
Board-Certified Physiatrist Academic credentials suitable for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level at Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University Medical Center Strong relationship with Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) and theGeriatric Fellowship Director Benefits:
