Job Description

Job Description A well-known music company is hiring for a new VP, Technology. This resource will lead all software development, architecture, and development activities for core distribution and copyright management products. Executes budget responsibility for portfolio of custom and third party software applications, including the selection, design, development, and operational control of the systems. Drives high impact projects and initiatives. Directly supervises departmental employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, directing and ensuring reliability of work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. This person will own an org of 250 people and directly managing 6 leaders.
  •  Defines execution plan for technology related to supporting operational business.
  •  Interfaces with product management and other teams to establish requirements, design and timeline for all core rights products.
  •  Provides ongoing evaluations of technology solutions and capabilities to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  •  Builds and maintains strong relationships with Product Management and operations stakeholders, direct reports and tech team leaders.
  •  Leads staff for career growth and determines assignments to meet project delivery success and operational Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  •  Determines resource allocation that drives the formulation of labor budgets and ongoing measurement of labor productivity.
  •  Plans, develops and maintains accurate budget line-items related to assigned 3rd party software applications.
  •  Manages day to day operations in all development centers, including the off-shore contractor site.
  •  Monitors and maintains financial control such as labor, subscriptions, licensing, and maintenance as key drivers for the IT budget.
  •  Takes leadership for delivery management across business and technology work streams with internal and third-party coordination and collaboration.
  •  Develops and drives strategy for Cloud computing and operations.

Server, DB2, etc. Experience of 'system of systems' architecture development, partitioning of functionality among applications and components and application interfaces/interoperability concerns. Experience of software development methodologies and structured approaches to system development. Awareness of systems management and operational support tools. Security and/or infrastructure experience would also be a significant benefit. Highest level of confidentiality. Ability to establish a constructive and informative relationship with employees, management and vendors. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
