POSITION OVERVIEW
The Grants Manager, working closely with program, finance and property staff, is responsible for the full lifecycle management of grants for the Delaware State Office, with a focus on grant research, proposal development, post‑award compliance and reporting, including federal and state grants. This role ensures that all grant activities align with funder requirements, internal financial controls, and organizational priorities. The position is intentionally scoped to concentrate on high‑impact, compliance‑driven grant functions, providing dedicated oversight of grant writing, reporting, and documentation, while working collaboratively with program, property, and finance staff. The Grants Manager does not hold fiscal or legal authority but serves as the primary coordinator for grant submissions and required reporting.
DUTIES:
Grant Research and Prospecting Research, identify, and assess funding opportunities aligned with current and potential organizational programs Evaluate funder priorities, eligibility requirements, and compliance obligations Advise leadership on grant feasibility, timelines, and reporting expectations Pre-Award Grant Development Develop and write clear, compelling, and compliant grant narratives Collaborate with program staff to define project objectives, outcomes, and measurable impacts Coordinate with Finance to develop grant budgets and supporting fiscal documentation Prepare and submit complete grant applications with all required attachments to the Divisional Grants Manager for final review and submission to the Divisional Contract and Compliance Attorney for final submission by THQ by established Post-Award Grant Management and Compliance Works closely with program, finance and property staff to manage awarded grants across their lifecycle, ensuring adherence to funder requirements Maintain and monitor a comprehensive grants compliance and reporting calendar In collaboration with the Divisional Director of Partnerships, prepare and submit required narrative and performance reports, including quarterly federal reports through JustGrants Serve as the designated point of contact for grant reporting systems and funder correspondence related to compliance Grant Documentation and Coordination Maintain complete electronic and hard‑copy grant files in accordance with funder and organizational requirements Coordinate funder acknowledgments, award letters, and required communications Meet regularly with finance, property, and program leadership to review grant status, reporting needs, and upcoming deadlines Miscellaneous Serves as a member of the State Advisory Board Development Committee Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required (fields such as nonprofit management, public administration, communications, or related areas preferred). Minimum 3-5 years of experience in grant writing and grants management, preferably in a nonprofit Demonstrated experience with state and/or federal grants, including post‑award Familiarity with federal grant systems (e.g., JustGrants) strongly Strong writing, organizational, and project management High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); Adobe Acrobat Strong understanding of grant compliance and reporting Ability to collaborate effectively with program, finance, and leadership Ability to interpret funder guidelines and translate them into actionable Excellent written communication and document management Commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and Ability to work independently and with good initiative, confidentiality, and judgment.
