Job Description
The Parks and Conservation Resources Department is seeking a Sr. Grants Specialist who specializes in parks, preserves and natural resources to tie grant opportunities from funding sources such as the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), Florida Communities Trust (FCT), and others to our County's current recreation and resource needs. This individual will manage complex grant projects, including all contracts, reporting, financial management and compliance requirements for the funder. Responsible for preparing, submitting, and managing grants. Assist with audit and closure of grant projects. Employee will coordinate and monitor department contracts, licenses, and agreements to include preparation and review of specifications, and oversee audit compliance for department contracts and licenses. Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. What Will You Do Assists with coordination of special projects that may range from program planning, budget preparation, research, and public relations. Prepares applications for grant funding and maintains grant funding resource materials and publications. Evaluates and monitors projects and contracts for federal, state and county programs. Liaison for various county organizations concerning federal, state and local funding opportunities. Monitors grant compliance; prepares periodic reports on fiscal status of grants and other resource programs. Writes grant applications according to format required and submits application to department director; discusses program requirements and sources of funding available with director and/or departmental Finance Manager. Meets with representatives of funding source(s) to work out final details of proposal. Coordinates evaluation and monitoring of grant-funded programs. Maintains master files on grants. Monitors paperwork connected with grant-funded programs. Performs related work as assigned or required.
What Will You Need Experience:
P rofessional experience in grant writing, contract negotiation and monitoring of various federal or state funding sources in the areas of natural resources, parks and recreation, or sustainability.
Degree:
N atural resources, environmental science, finance, accounting, business, public administration, or a related field. 9 years professional experience in grant writing, contract negotiation and monitoring of various federal or state funding sources in the areas of natural resources, parks and recreation, or sustainability; or Associate's degree and 7 years professional experience as described above; or Bachelor's degree and 5 years professional experience as described above; or Master's degree and 3 years professional experience as described above; or PhD and 1 year of professional experience as described above; or An equivalent combination of training, education, and/or experience. Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Driver's License. Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
