Job Description:
_ The fiscal and finance office at the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) plays a vital role in supporting the agency's mission to protect the environment. This includes Budget Management and Allocation, Financial Reporting and Compliance, Revenue Collection and Grant Management Oversight, Procurement and Contract Management, Financial Planning and Analysis, Internal Support and Collaboration, and Key Fiscal Stakeholder Collaborations. This internship is designed to assist Administrative Penalties (ADMP) Program Coordinator managing Accounts Receivables and Debt Collection. Receivable and Customer Account Management include invoicing, payment processing and account placement with debt collection. Coordinate with the Office of Enforcement (OE), Office of General Counsel (OGC) and regional staff for case review. Update C&E Tracker billing and payment data, debt placement information and date of submission. Compile and report data and metrics for Annual GAAP Submission. _
Job Duties:
_
  • Audit/data entry into the Compliance & Enforcement Application.
  • Conduct research on delinquent accounts.
  • Correspond with Program Staff regarding returned mail and customer inquiries.
_
Preferred Qualifications:
_
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/SharePoint/Access).
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively on the telephone, in person, and in writing.
  • Database Experience.
  • Analytical Skills.
This internship is unpaid and designed to support students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in the field. Interns may be eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university. _
