The Prince George's County Department of Social Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a OHEP Certifier (Community Developer 1G) , grade G18 position, in the Energy Assistance Programs . About the Position The Office of Home Energy Program (OHEP) Certifier is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the Energy Assistance Application process and other program objectives. About the Agency The Prince George's County Department of Social Services is in the business of providing opportunities for residents of the County to become independent, responsible and stable members of the community. We do this by providing intervention services that strengthen families, protect children and vulnerable adults, encourage self-sufficiency and promote personal responsibility. We assist our customers through such programs as Temporary Cash Assistance, Food Supplement Program, Medical Assistance, Emergency Assistance, and Foster Care and Adoption Service. After confirming that all information is complete and accurate, will review applications in Awaiting Certification (AC) status for completeness and accuracy. Approve application(s) in the OHEP system. Review applications marked Awaiting Denial (incomplete information or over income) for completeness and accuracy. After confirming that all information is complete and accurate, the certifier will deny the application(s) in the OHEP system. Document errors found in reviewing applications in AC or AD status and return applications to reviewers for corrections. Coach reviewers to decrease errors and increase their knowledge of the OHEP policy and procedures section. Identify training needs for reviewers and make recommendations to managers. Assist the Program Manager with correcting invalid records identified on the Social Security Validation Report. Participate in year-end training for reviewers and clerical staff. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned, which may not be specifically listed in the position description. However they are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Service, Sociology, Psychology, or a closely related field. Responsible work experience which includes coordination of group activities, preferably including work with disadvantaged individuals. Must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver's license. Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered.
