$29.00 - $33.00/hour commensurate with experience

IHS Executive Director General Summary of Duties:
This is a part time paid position for Grants Coordinator at The Institute for Human Services, Inc. (IHS). The Grants Coordinator identifies funding opportunities from public, private, federal, state and local sources. Conducts solicitation and award processes, including data collection, application creation and submission, programmatic and fiscal oversight of awarded projects, project development and management, reporting and regulatory compliance, records maintenance and internal financial coordination of funds, donations and sponsored programs. Engages in substantial outreach to the community and elected officials through active participation in regional initiatives, task forces, committees, and partnership opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Generates and oversees the complete grant funding process from application composition through award monitoring and compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations for assigned area of responsibility. 2. Researches and maintains databases of grant funding websites, grant and equipment-acquisition program sources, governing documents, and problem solving/best practice resources. 3. Collects and analyzes departmental data to be used for grants, funder, and other various organizational needs. 4. Builds and sustains collaborative partnerships with elected officials, community leaders, department leaders, and citizen groups by actively participating in coalitions, committees, meetings, workshops, and department-sponsored events. 5. Formulates and implements creative strategies for funding identified department projects. 6. Prepares and submits grant applications; oversees project implementation, data collection, and analysis. 7. completes required reports and documentation; manages project purchasing; and coordinates with IHS finance staff to ensure accurate and consistent accounting across funders and IHS. 8. Prepares application and award materials for IHS Executive Director Review ensuring compliance with statutory and grantor requirements. 8. Plans, conducts or attends inter-departmental and inter-agency meetings; initiates and coordinates joint projects with local partners in identified gap need areas and ensures all support documents related to partnership projects are properly maintained. 9. Actively participates in relevant initiatives and related task forces on grant projects. 10. Establishes and maintains electronic and manual award/project files in audit ready condition. 11. Performs related work as required
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, financial management, budget, compliance, meeting/process facilitation skills, strong organizational/time management skills, professionalism and attention to detail and quality, ability to follow specific protocols, ability to establish priorities, identifying and resolving problems, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, staff and the public, knowledge of computer systems, internet, skill in exercising initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve objectives, ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team, and ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Master preferred) with 3-5 years of resource development/grant experience and demonstrated success in grant research and writing.
Additional Requirements:
Work schedule is 8:30am - 4:00pm (35 hours/week), Monday through Friday. Additional weekend and evening work may be necessary for special events. Must be willing to travel , including air. A valid NYS driver's license, clean driving record, and operable vehicle are essential for travel to other sites for meetings and events.
