DEFINITION
The Grant Coordinator position is a new role that will serve the Oklahoma Insurance Department's Strengthen Oklahoma Homes Program. The Grant Coordinator will be responsible for answering casework correspondence, interacting with all program stakeholders, developing verbal and written communications, and serving as a liaison with federal, state, and local agencies.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITITES
  • Responsible for providing professional level support of grant management including project deliverables and financial reporting and oversight to Strengthen Oklahoma Homes grant recipients.
  • Provide technical assistance to grant applicants and recipients on programmatic guidance, state/federal regulations policies and procedures. Evaluate grant recipient casefiles for eligibility, completeness, and appropriateness.
  • Organize and participate in grant recipient monitoring via calls and field visits to document the status and performance of the grant recipient against established requirements.
  • Responsible for providing professional level program management support and technical support to the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), certified Evaluators, and certified Contractors.
  • Receive, compile, and review applications submitted to the Strengthen Oklahoma Homes grant program.
  • Prepare and participate in mitigation and community-resilience briefings, presentations, trainings, and/or workgroups to support the delivery and effectiveness of the Strengthen Oklahoma Homes grant program.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets, databases, and information systems to respond to requests for information from applicants and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for supporting training and outreach efforts related to community resilience and mitigation programs for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Coordinates the evaluation and monitoring of grant funds.
  • Researches the availability of grants from private and public sources.
  • Writes and submits grant proposals for funding the program.
  • Completes documents and reports as required by the program.
  • Participate in training and continuing education keeping up to date on requirements by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), the programs IT Platforms and other potential updates or changes that may need to be addressed within the program.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in financial management (grant, contracting, claims management, budgeting); grant/contract management to include experience assisting in the development, negotiation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of grants/contracts for federal, state, local governments, or private entities; and program/project management or administration. No Supervisory role
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Prepare and complete grant agreements, scopes of work and associated deliverables in accordance with grant guidelines. Review and analyze complex, technical materials such as federal and state laws and regulations. Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, or similar programs) to develop documents in support of program objectives.
NOTE:
Upon hire, any applicant who is licensed as a producer/agent, adjuster or is otherwise affiliated with any entity that is regulated by the department must surrender their license and terminate any financial or non-financial affiliation with the entity that is regulated by the department. The selected applicant must pass a background check. Individual may be required to pursue NAIC designations as job duties require.
