Job Description

ASSOCIATE GRANT MANAGER - MORRISTOWN, NJ COMPANY OVERVIEW
Millennium Strategies is a team of grant writing consultants working with municipalities, counties, and boards of education to apply for funding from various government and philanthropic sources. Founded in 2005, Millennium is the largest full-service grant consulting firm in the region. We currently represent over 160+ communities in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Missouri. Over the past 19 years, Millennium has secured over $2 billion in grant funding for our clients.
MAIN FUNCTION
Associate Grant Managers work under the supervision of the Senior Director of Client Services and Directors of Client Services to complete an 18-month training program to become a Grant Manager. Associate Grant Managers will learn the grant writing process, Millennium's clients, and the funding programs most often pursued by our clients. Associate Grant Managers will start with learning to write grants, then progress to managing specific projects and managing clients as a Grant Manager, at the discretion of their supervisor. Grant Managers at Millennium are responsible for managing all aspects of the grant process for approximately five to six governmental clients. Millennium collaborates with communities to generate funding through competitive grant opportunities for essential projects including but not limited to transportation and parks infrastructure, recreation, human services, and public safety. This work requires, excellent writing skills, an acute attention to detail, the ability to juggle multiple projects with different deadlines, and the ability to communicate effectively with public and elected officials including, but not limited to mayors, administrators, clerks, council members, police and fire chiefs, recreation and health directors, and various other individuals with a role in local government. This position is required to report to our Morristown office, 2 days a week and work from home 3 days a week.
  • All Associate Grant Managers must complete an 18-month training program. Once the training program is complete, the salary will increase to $60,000.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS/BA in Political Science, English, History, Communications or an equivalent field
  • Strong writing and project management skills
  • Knowledge of (or interest in) government or philanthropic funding programs
  • Experience meeting deadlines and/or working in a challenging environment that requires high levels of organization
  • Prior experience providing customer or client service
  • Highly organized detail and orientated
  • Outstanding knowledge of MS Office necessary
  • Effective communication skills
  • Aptitude in problem solving
  • Able to work and solve problems independently but also be able to work as a team with a result driven approach

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Working with the Director of Client Services to serve assigned clients
  • Serving as the grant writer for assigned clients
  • Coordinating the preparation of funding proposals, including: Reviewing guidelines to ensure thoroughness and completeness of each proposal.
Outreach to local government and community stakeholders - Organization of supporting documentation (i.e., resolutions, letters of support, engineering plans, maps, cost estimates, financial records, etc.). Preparation of grant narratives in full compliance with funding guidelines. Submission, tracking, and follow-up of pending funding requests.
