We provide free and community-accessible financial wellness education, live events, cohort-based classes, mentorship, and financial-readiness support for underserved individuals, families, aspiring entrepreneurs, and small-business owners.
Our goal is simple:
help residents build stronger financial foundations so they are better prepared to access housing, workforce, entrepreneurship, and community-development opportunities. NEFW is currently launching its first measurable pilot and building relationships with community partners, funders, volunteers, and residents across the Charlotte area. Position Summary NEFW is looking for a Philanthropy & Strategic Partnerships Officer to help grow donor support, foundation relationships, sponsorship opportunities, and community partnerships. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, writing compelling funding materials, and helping a young nonprofit become more organized, credible, and funder-ready. The right person will be comfortable helping NEFW build from the ground up. This includes donor outreach, grant research, sponsorship conversations, partner follow-up, fundraising systems, and clear communication with supporters. Responsibilities Build and manage relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporate sponsors, and community partners. Research grant opportunities, foundation prospects, and local funding sources aligned with financial wellness, education, workforce readiness, housing stability, entrepreneurship, and community development. Write and support funding proposals, sponsorship materials, donor emails, grant narratives, impact updates, and follow-up reports. Help create a simple donor and partner outreach system, including prospect tracking, follow-up reminders, proposal status, and stewardship notes. Support fundraising campaigns, donor briefings, community events, financial wellness events, and cohort-related activities. Develop partnership opportunities with nonprofits, churches, schools, workforce organizations, small-business groups, housing organizations, and community leaders. Help collect and organize early proof points, including attendance numbers, participant feedback, partner letters, event photos, and pre/post survey results. Communicate NEFW's mission in a clear, professional, and responsible way. Support the President / Executive Director with fundraising strategy, meeting preparation, donor follow-up, and partner communication. Maintain accurate donor, sponsor, grant, and partner records. Qualifications Experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, grant writing, sponsorship development, community partnerships, sales, or relationship management. Strong writing skills and the ability to create clear emails, proposals, sponsorship language, and donor updates. Comfortable reaching out to new people and building relationships over time. Highly organized and able to track multiple conversations, deadlines, and follow-ups. Professional communication style with donors, partners, volunteers, and community leaders. Ability to work independently in an early-stage nonprofit environment. Strong attention to detail and good judgment with sensitive donor and organizational information. Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, CRM systems, spreadsheets, or project management tools. Knowledge of the Charlotte nonprofit, philanthropic, business, faith-based, housing, workforce, or entrepreneurship ecosystem is a plus. Bachelor's degree preferred, but relevant experience will be considered. Preferred Experience Grant research or grant writing experience. Experience securing donations, sponsorships, or community partnerships. Experience working with underserved communities. Experience supporting a nonprofit during an early launch or pilot stage. Understanding of fundraising ethics and responsible donor communication. Important Note NEFW provides financial wellness education and readiness support. We do not promise financial outcomes or provide individualized investment, tax, legal, credit-repair, mortgage, or business-financing advice unless properly licensed and structured. This role requires responsible communication that avoids guarantees or exaggerated claims. All fundraising and donor materials should accurately reflect NEFW's current stage, mission, and measurable progress. What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is steady, organized, relationship-focused, and mission-aligned. This is a good fit for someone who wants to help build something meaningful from the beginning and understands that early-stage nonprofit work requires both vision and follow-through. You do not need to have every answer, but you should be willing to take ownership, communicate clearly, follow up consistently, and help NEFW build trust with the people and organizations who can support the mission.
