Technical Proficiency Full Job Description Position Summary:
CIS NOVA
is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grants Specialist to manage the full grant lifecycle. The Grant Specialist will play a key role in expanding our grant portfolio by identifying, pursuing, and securing new funding opportunities, while strengthening and diversifying our existing funding streams. This position requires exceptional grant writing, research, and project management skills, along with a proven ability to handle complex grant portfolios.Reporting Structure:
Key Responsibilities Grant Development & Writing:
Draft compelling and detailed grant narratives, including needs statements, objectives, and performance measures to support CIS NOVA's organizational initiatives. Conduct research to identify and disseminate federal and state grant opportunities that align with CIS NOVA's mission and priorities.Grant Management:
Monitor post-award activities to ensure compliance with grant requirements, including meeting programmatic goals and reporting deadlines. Administer and maintain grant management systems to track and document key deliverables.Collaboration & Communication:
Serve as a liaison between CIS NOVA and external funding partners, ensuring seamless communication throughout the grant application and reporting processes. Partner withCIS NOVA
leadership and program staff to gather relevant data and stories that strengthen grant proposals. Provide full access toCIS NOVA
leadership to deliverables through a shared system; all work products are exclusive property ofCIS NOVA
Capacity Building:
Develop and update toolkits, templates, and training materials to streamline the grant writing and reporting process for internal teams. Provide technical assistance and guidance to staff to enhance grant-related knowledge and practices.Reporting & Evaluation:
Manage the grant reporting process, ensuring timely submission of all interim and final reports. Analyze outcomes and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of grant-funded initiatives.Other Duties:
Stay updated on grant trends, regulations, and best practices. Perform additional related responsibilities as needed to support CIS NOVA's development efforts. Support event planning and office management.Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience (4+ years). 5+ years of progressive experience managing complex grant portfolios Demonstrated success in securing competitive grant awards. Strong knowledge of grant writing ethics and practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management platforms. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a relevant field. Familiarity with education programs and policies affecting Title I schools. Experience with electronic grant submission platforms and compliance tools. Proximity to Arlington/Alexandria Working Conditions May involve extended hours during critical grant deadlines. Light lifting (up to 25 lbs) and some physical mobility required.Compensation and Benefits What We Offer:
