Shop Assistant Job Description:
Job Overview The automotive shop assistant is a motivated, organized, and reliable individual responsible for supporting daily operations. This includes maintaining a clean and safe work environment, assisting technicians, managing parts inventory. Roles & Responsibilities To perform this job successfully and safely, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by performing general shop upkeep like sweeping, cleaning work areas, and taking out trash Organize and manage the inventory of parts and supplies, including receiving, stocking Ensure that tools and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and returned to their proper locations Assist with other shop-related tasks and logistics as assigned by management Assist technicians in whatever they need Retrieve and deliver tools, parts, and equipment to technicians as needed to keep the workflow moving. Help with the disassembly and reassembly of vehicle components Collect, salvage, and sort reusable or recycle materials or waste materials Collect, sort, and recycle cardboard, plastic, car parts, etc. Use proper personal protective equipment Present a professional appearance and conduct Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures Stop at risk behavior of others and self Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules Take direction and respond to supervision Other duties as assigned Qualification To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job safely. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in an automotive shop or similar mechanical environment is a plus. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations May be required to have a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Forklift certified. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with automotive tools. Knowledge of automotive cataloging and inventory systems. Proficiency with computers and other office equipment. Capable of working effectively with mechanics, service advisors, and other team members. Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in inventory management and record keeping. Ability to identify issues and assist in troubleshooting under supervision. Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with colleagues and customers. Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Compensation and Shift:
Monday-Friday 7:30AM-4:00PM $21.00-$22.00 per hour
Additional Requirements:
Forklift certification is required
