Job Description
Job Title:
Shipping and Receiving Worker Job Description This role supports warehouse and shipping operations by performing order picking, shipping and receiving, and general material handling in a modern, climate-controlled facility. You will cross-train across multiple areas, including warehouse, freight shipping, and parcel shipping, and will operate both stand-up and sit-down forklifts with training provided. The position requires attention to detail, strong communication, and comfort working with basic computer systems and ERP transactions. Responsibilities Pick and stage customer orders accurately and efficiently according to established procedures. Operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts safely to move, load, and unload materials and products. Training is provided. Load and unload trucks, ensuring products are handled carefully and placed in the correct locations. Perform shipping and receiving activities, including verifying counts, checking product condition, and confirming documentation. Handle and process shipping documentation, ensuring all records are accurate and complete. Conduct cycle counts and assist with inventory control to maintain accurate stock levels. Use ERP systems and basic computer applications to perform transactions, update inventory records, and track orders. Perform quality inspections on products and packaging to ensure they meet standards before shipment. Label products, pallets, and packages correctly to support accurate identification and shipment. Use RF scanners and other material handling tools to track and move inventory within the warehouse. Assist with packing, packaging, and preparing materials for shipment, including parcel and freight shipments. Communicate consistently and frequently with team members and other departments to coordinate workflow and resolve issues. Follow general labor and material handling procedures to support daily warehouse operations. Maintain a clean and organized work area through routine cleaning and adherence to 5S or similar housekeeping practices. Participate in cross-training across warehouse, freight shipping, and general shipping areas to provide flexible support as needed. Accept training and feedback positively and apply it to improve performance and safety. Essential Skills At least 6 months of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment is preferred. Experience with shipping and receiving processes is preferred. Ability to operate or learn to operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts safely. Training is provided. Basic computer skills, including the ability to learn ERP systems and perform simple data entry. Ability to perform inventory activities such as cycle counting and warehouse inventory control. Capability to use RF scanners and other basic warehouse technology. Strong attention to detail for order picking, labeling, and documentation. Willingness to receive training and feedback and apply it to daily work. Ability to perform physical tasks such as loading, unloading, and material handling. Effective communication skills to support consistent and frequent coordination with team members. Why Work Here? The warehouse team consists of approximately 30-35 people, fostering a close-knit and collaborative atmosphere.Multiple shifts are available:
a Monday-Thursday schedule (A and B shifts) from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., a Monday-Friday C shift from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and a second shift from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. You will use forklifts (stand-up and sit-down), RF scanners, ERP systems, and standard warehouse equipment while working in a clean, organized facility that supports safe and efficient operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Coralville, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
