POSITION OVERVIEW
The Inventory Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting inventory control processes throughout the facility. This position plays a critical role in ensuring inventory accuracy by processing inventory transactions, investigating discrepancies, conducting cycle counts, and supporting physical inventory activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to maintaining accurate inventory data in a fast-paced production environment. Success in this role means maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting inventory integrity, and helping ensure materials and products are available to meet operational and customer requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Key Responsibilities Process inventory transfers, inventory adjustments, scrap transactions, and location changes within the inventory management system, ensuring accurate product tracking throughout the facility Investigate, reconcile, and resolve inventory discrepancies identified through move sheets, cycle counts, and daily inventory transactions Review and reconcile move sheet documentation against system data to ensure accuracy Conduct regular cycle counts and location reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy Conduct periodic physical inventory audits and support reconciliation efforts Support annual physical inventory counts and inventory reconciliation projects Escalate unresolved discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor with clear documentation Investigate, document, and report inventory shortages, overages, and variances associated with production activities Prepare and maintain inventory reports and shipment reconciliations Work closely with Warehouse Inventory, Production, Growing, and Shipping teams to ensure inventory accuracy and product traceability throughout the facility Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company safety standards Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and inventory systems Strong organizational and time management skills Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED equivalent required Prior inventory, warehouse, manufacturing, greenhouse, nursery, or production experience preferred Familiarity with inventory management systems or ERP software preferred Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work throughout the facility for extended periods Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds Ability to work in warehouse, greenhouse, and production environments with varying temperatures and humidity Ability to work on a computer and perform data entry for extended periods The Plant Company is an equal opportunity employer
