Class Summary:
Under general direction, receives, maintains, checks, stocks, rotates, stores, issues and ships; supplies, equipment and materials. Performs heavy, manual work loading and unloading trucks and other vehicles. Transports goods for delivery to schools and sites. Completes work orders, requisitions and maintains accurate inventory records.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Duty No. Essential Duties Frequency Band/Grade 1 Works with Supervisor to determine safest/best procedures to accomplish warehouse shipping, receiving, stocking, and inventory activities. Daily B2 2 Collaborates with school personnel and/or Supervisor in an effort to determine the rationale for damaged or unwanted goods. Researches discrepancies in deliveries to determine if the District utilized appropriate procedures or if vendor is responsible. Refers poor/damaged products to supervisor. Daily B2 3 Receives and examines stock for quality and quantity; refers problems and/or discrepancies to the Supervisor as necessary. Daily A1 4 Receives goods and commodities i.e., USDA commodities, food, supplies, chemicals, disposable products, small tools/equipment, etc. Unpacks items and inspects for damage or defective goods as necessary. Refuses shipments as appropriate. As Needed A1 5 Reconciles shipment with invoice or packing slip information by counting, weighing or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description and code numbers. Records any discrepancies or damage. Properly stores/rotates perishable items after unloading procedures have been completed. As Needed A1 6 Receives pick tickets from schools or facilities via approved computer software; determines if inventory is available, fills pick tickets and generates appropriate delivery documentation. Keeps shelves stocked as appropriate. Daily A1 7 Performs minor preventative maintenance to equipment, i.e., greases, checks fluid levels, and changes tires as appropriate. Maintains warehouse in a neat and safe manner. Recommends appropriate safety measures and procedures in an effort to keep working environment safe and in compliance with government standards. Daily A1 8 Works with Supervisor and other warehouse personnel in determining on-hand stock levels and generating information for reordering stock goods. May be required to maintain inventory pricing and par levels in inventory computer system. Daily A1 9 Performs inventory spot checks monthly; counts inventory items for semi-annual and/or annual reconciliation. Semi-Annually A1 10 Pick up and transport all freight to include, but not be limited to: supplies, furniture, Special Education equipment, intradistrict mail, curriculum, etc. May on occasion transport food items, hazardous materials, or gas. Periodically travels to Anchorage and/or other locations to replenish stock and other related supplies. Daily A1 11 Using snow plow, may be required to remove snow from parking lots and sidewalks. As Needed A1 12 Loads and unloads by manually lifting up to 100 pounds or by operating heavy or light trucks, forklifts, power gates and other mechanical equipment to aide in the transport of supplies, equipment and mail to all locations. Daily A1 13 Monitors vehicle mileage and reports service needs to Supervisor. Daily A1 14 May be required to perform additional related tasks as delegated by the Supervisor or an assigned designee.
As Needed Knowledge:
Skills (position requirements at entry): Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of management and associates through written and verbal methods; must possess good reasoning skills, have a positive attitude, and be able to work both independently and in a team environment. Training and Experience (position requirements at entry): Previous education, training, work or life experiences which provide reasonable evidence of the successful performance of the various tasks listed; such evidence might typically be provided by one (1) to three (3) years previous comprehensive warehouse experience. Must possess a working knowledge of OSHA safety rules and guidelines for warehouse environment and power industrial vehicles. Must possess a working knowledge of determining Inventory Par Levels. Licensing Requirements (position requirements at entry): A valid CDL driver's license is required; certified forklift operator preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Heavy Work:
Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work. Email To A Friend Print Version
