Job Description

Required Education:
  • Verifiable High School Diploma or Equivalent Required License/Certification:
  • Active Pharmacy Technician License in California required (National certification not accepted per client policy)
Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician in an administrative support or coordination function
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a high-volume customer service or call center environment, preferably healthcare or social services
  • Must have strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Must have basic typing and data entry skills
  • Must have advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be able to follow standard operating procedures
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Must be physically able to lift 50-70 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
  • Must be able to learn and use computer systems for documentation and communication
Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
  • Pharmacy inventory management experience preferred
  • Experience with SOX compliance documentation preferred
  • Experience in healthcare, pharmacy operations, or high-volume administrative support preferred Pharmacy Technician -
Prior Authorization & Inventory Support Overview:
  • This is a safety-sensitive Pharmacy Technician role supporting prescription fulfillment, inventory management, and prior authorization call handling in a high-volume pharmacy operations environment
  • Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for accurately and efficiently filling medication orders using internal systems, ensuring proper labeling, packaging, and documentation. The role includes use of manual counting methods and automated EYECON counters, as well as assisting with scanning, labeling, and preparing prescriptions for shipment
  • In addition to dispensing support, this role includes inventory management responsibilities such as receiving, tracking, reconciling, and replenishing stock
  • The technician will assist with cycle counts, product organization, short-dated or expired medication removal, and maintaining SOX documentation compliance
  • The role also includes supporting packing and shipping operations as needed
  • This position requires handling inbound calls related to prior authorization processes, maintaining accurate documentation of approvals and denials, and escalating clinical questions to a pharmacist when necessary
  • Strong communication, accuracy, and adherence to protocols are essential for success
  • Paid training and standard operating procedures will be provided
Job Duties:
  • Fill prescription orders accurately and efficiently using in-house systems
  • Count medications using manual methods and EYECON automated counters
  • Assist pharmacists with scanning, labeling, and order preparation
  • Review prescriptions for special instructions (e.g., safety caps, paperwork, supplies)
  • Maintain compliance with Pharmacy Technician protocols and annual sign-offs
  • Perform inventory management including receiving, tracking, and reconciliation
  • Support cycle counting, stock replenishment, and product organization
  • Remove expired or short-dated medications from active inventory
  • Maintain SOX documentation and inventory compliance records
  • Support packing, shipping, and back-end operations as needed (10-20%)
  • Handle inbound prior authorization calls and document approvals/denials accurately
  • Transfer clinical questions to pharmacist as required
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked pharmacy workstations
  • Place orders for shipping and operational supplies
  • Support refrigerator and storage organization for pharmacy inventory Specific Details to

  • Clinical escalations must be directed to pharmacist only
