Job Description

Job Summary The Purchasing & Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing procurement activities, maintaining accurate inventory records, and supporting the efficient flow of materials across manufacturing operations. This mid-level role requires a detail-oriented professional who can build strong vendor relationships, optimize purchasing processes and collaborate with operations personnel to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules without excess carrying costs. Purchasing Responsibilities Create and manage purchase orders from requisition through receipt Coordinate with receiving, accounts payable, and quality teams to resolve discrepancies related to deliveries, invoices and material quality Maintain organized procurement records and documentation in compliance with internal controls and audit requirements Continuously evaluate and improve purchase order workflows to increase efficiency and reduce processing time Maintain vendor relationships & monitor vendor performance to quality standards and delivery requirements Inventory Responsibilities Maintain accurate inventory records across all raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods using ERP/MRP systems Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits; investigate and resolve discrepancies Establish and monitor reorder points, safety stock levels, and min/max thresholds to prevent stockouts and overstock conditions Collaborate with production planning and operations teams to align inventory levels with manufacturing schedules Identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and coordinate with stakeholders on disposition strategies Analyze purchasing data to identify cost-saving opportunities Prepare regular reports on purchase price variances for management review Qualifications 3-5 years of purchasing and/or inventory management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment Demonstrated experience using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, CSB, Oracle or similar) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel Solid understanding of supply chain principles, purchasing best practices, and inventory control methodologies Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and barcode/RFID inventory technologies Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations or a related field desirable, but not required
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
