Job Title:
Inventory Specialist Job Description The Inventory Specialist accurately counts and verifies parts stored on warehouse shelves, maintains precise inventory records in SAP, and supports comprehensive inventory audits. This role requires strong attention to detail, investigative problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment while collaborating with other team members. Responsibilities Perform accurate physical counts of a high volume of parts on warehouse shelves, including more than 38,000 individual items. Work closely with union warehouse team members to complete scheduled inventory audits. Review and verify all parts against existing inventory records to ensure accuracy and completeness. Match parts to their corresponding codes in SAP and confirm that quantities and locations are correct. Complete inventory sheets thoroughly and enter all relevant information into SAP in a timely and accurate manner. Use Microsoft Excel to track counts, reconcile discrepancies, and maintain organized inventory data. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies by reviewing original purchase orders and working backward to identify errors or missing information. Perform cycle counts on a regular basis to maintain accurate, up-to-date inventory levels. Identify and document miscounts, initiate recounts when necessary, and follow through until issues are resolved. Handle different types of products carefully and count them accurately, following established procedures. Communicate findings, issues, and discrepancies clearly to team members and leadership as needed. Follow all warehouse procedures and inventory control best practices to support a reliable and efficient operation. Essential Skills Proven experience in inventory management or inventory control in a warehouse or similar environment. Hands-on experience performing inventory counts and cycle counts. Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high accuracy when counting and recording large volumes of parts. Experience using SAP or a comparable ERP system for inventory or materials management, with SAP strongly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for tracking and reconciling inventory data and Outlook for communication. Strong problem-solving and investigative skills to research and resolve miscounts, missing codes, and other discrepancies. Ability to accurately match parts to their corresponding codes and documentation. Comfort working with numerical data and performing basic calculations related to inventory quantities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with inventory audit processes and best practices. Ability to interpret purchase orders and other inventory-related documents. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage large sets of data and part numbers. Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and share findings clearly. Self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and productivity. Work Environment This role is based in a warehouse environment and involves working on-site among shelves and storage areas where a large volume of parts is stored. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, typically from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The work involves being on your feet for extended periods, moving through the warehouse to perform counts, and using computers and SAP to enter and review inventory data. You will regularly interact and collaborate with other warehouse team members while following established safety and operational procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wentzville, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
