Job Summary The Tooling & Inventory Specialist is responsible for tooling, inventory, and supply systems that support daily manufacturing operations. This role oversees CNC tooling inventory, PPE, packaging materials, shipping supplies, facility supplies, and vending systems while ensuring production has the materials needed to operate efficiently. This position utilizes inventory technology and the company ERP system to maintain inventory accuracy, generate purchase orders, track usage trends, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, purchasing experience, and a solid understanding of CNC cutting tools and machining operations.
Responsibilities:
Manage inventory of CNC tooling including end mills, inserts, drills, taps, tool holders, collets, and related consumables Coordinate tooling repairs, regrinds, replacements, and vendor returns Maintain inventory levels for PPE, packaging materials, shipping supplies, facility supplies, and production consumables Utilize ERP and inventory management tools to track inventory levels, usage, and replenishment needs Generate purchase orders for tooling and operational supplies Coordinate with vendors regarding pricing, lead times, deliveries, and shortages Perform inventory audits, and inventory discrepancy resolution Organize and maintain tooling, cribs, and inventory storage areas Support manufacturing with tooling identification and availability Assist continuous improvement and lean initiatives to improve organization and efficiency Qualifications Minimum 5 years of manufacturing, tooling, inventory, or purchasing experience Strong understanding of CNC cutting tools and machining applications Experience with ERP/MRP inventory systems and purchase order creation Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Experience with vending systems or KeepStock technology preferred Physical Requirements The Tooling & Inventory Specialist position requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 35 pounds. Employees must be able to sit and stand for extended periods throughout the workday, as well as frequently move between workstations, storage areas, and production environments. The role also requires manual dexterity, the ability to operate inventory and tooling equipment safely, and sufficient mobility to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive movements as needed to complete daily tasks efficiently and safely.
