A Brief Overview The Surgical Supply and Processing Technician works under the direction of the Nurse Manager. He/she reviews the daily surgical schedule to determine adequate surgical supply and equipment needs for surgical cases in the Perioperative complex. The KOP Tech is responsible for the processing of materials and equipment for patient care, operating room and ancillary departments and works in accordance with established policies and procedures for decontamination assembly, packaging and sterilization. The Technician is a team player, who demonstrates good rapport and cooperative relationships with all members of the Perioperative complex team. He/she is flexible, shows pride in work, and performs in a capacity to ensure the success of safe patient care in the Perioperative complex. Work Schedule Part Time
  • 24 Hours Three (3) 8 Hour Shifts (exact hours TBD) 1 full weekend requirement every 6 weeks What you will do Demonstrates proper cleaning and High Level Disinfection and Sterilization (HLD/S) of all Anesthesia and O.
R., instruments, endoscopes, and equipment Performs HLD/S of instruments and endoscopes from the Specialty Care Center Inspects instrumentation and equipment for defects and proper working condition prior to packaging and sterilizing and resorts issues as necessary to OR team Effectively packages and prepares all instrumentation and equipment according to manufacturers recommended instructions for use (IFU) Processes complete and accurate instrument trays and sets Ensures that supplies and equipment are handled and stored properly according to manufacturers' recommendations and guidelines Ensures all sterilization records and central processing area environment documentation is complete and in compliance with Infection Prevention and Control and regulatory recommendations and standards Works with Perioperative Core technicians, nursing staff and supply chain teams for management of OR supply needs Orders appropriate par level of supplies as needed Distributes supplies to operating room, sterile supply rooms, Pre-op, and PACU areas, as needed Prepares instrumentation and supplies for pending OR cases, works with case carts, and anticipates needs based on the OR schedule. Education Qualifications High School Diploma / GED Required Experience Qualifications At least one (1) year experience in a health related field. Required Skills and Abilities Demonstrates basic computer skills, with working knowledge of computer systems used by the organization for ordering and processing (EPIC, SPM, Coupa) Licenses and Certifications Central Service Technician (CST)
