Full Job Description Overview:
The Materials Distribution Inventory Compliance Technician is responsible for performing expiration checks, supply bin cleaning, inventory rotation, and documentation activities within Supply Chain-managed inventory locations across the enterprise. This position supports regulatory compliance and patient safety by identifying expired or soon-to-expire products, maintaining clean and organized storage areas, documenting findings in approved systems, and ensuring supplies are properly rotated using FIFO and FEFO methods
Responsibilities:
Perform expiration checks in Materials Distribution managed supply locations. Inspect products for manufacturer expiration dates and identify expired or soon-to-expire inventory. Remove expired, damaged, or designated short-dated products from active inventory. Document expiration findings, quantities removed, bin locations, and related information in approved tracking systems. Record the next earliest expiration date remaining in inventory when required by procedure. Restock usable supplies utilizing FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and FEFO (First-to-Expire, First-Out) inventory rotation methods. Clean and disinfect supply bins, shelves, and storage areas using approved cleaning supplies, microfiber cloths, Oxivir solution, and required PPE. Transfer inventory between bins and totes during cleaning procedures while maintaining product organization. Return cleaned bins and inventory to designated scales, shelves, or storage locations with labels facing outward. Place "Checked" indicator tags or stickers on completed bins and shelves. Separate expired and damaged products for donation staging or proper disposition. Seal, label, and transport donation boxes to designated staging locations. Report damaged bins, broken scales, missing labels, access barriers, or other operational concerns to supervision. Notify supervisors upon completion of assigned aisles, rooms, or expiration check assignments. Scan QR codes and complete electronic surveys or documentation forms to record completed expiration checks within assigned rooms and inventory locations. Support quality assurance audits and regulatory readiness initiatives. Follow all hospital safety, infection prevention, OSHA, Joint Commission, and departmental procedures.
Qualifications:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing step stools or ladders as necessary. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull supply bins, toes, boxes, and carts weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to push loaded carts throughout hospital and warehouse environments. Frequent repetitive hand movements associated with stocking, cleaning, documentation, and product handling. Ability to safely work with cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and required PPE. High School Diploma or GED required. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to follow written procedures, job aids, and departmental standards. Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Minimum of 1 year of experience in materials distribution, warehouse operations, healthcare supply chain, stocking, or logistics preferred. Experience working in a healthcare or regulated environment preferred. Experience performing expiration checks, inventory rotation, stocking, replenishment, or cleaning activities preferred. Basic computer proficiency required. Ability to utilize handheld devices, tablets, iPhones, or shared mobile devices for documentation and tracking. Experience with Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Lists preferred.
