This role is responsible for executing and developing cycle count processes, ensuring inventory accuracy, and working directly on the warehouse floor handling materials. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with both physical inventory and data systems. Key Responsibilities Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts of steel inventory (plate, sheet, tubing, etc.) Develop and maintain cycle count schedules and inventory control processes Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including root cause analysis Physically locate, count, measure, and verify materials in the yard and warehouse Operate forklifts and material handling equipment to move and access inventory Maintain accurate inventory records in spreadsheets and internal systems Track and report inventory metrics, variances, and adjustments Collaborate with warehouse, shipping/receiving, and operations teams to ensure accuracy Ensure proper labeling, storage, and organization of materials Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory control Qualifications Experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or steel/metal industry preferred Ability to operate a forklift (certification preferred or willingness to obtain) Strong understanding of cycle counting procedures and inventory processes Proficient in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet tools Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently on the warehouse floor Comfortable with physical work (lifting, walking, measuring materials) Good communication and organizational skills Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Frequent walking, standing, bending, and climbing Working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment Preferred Skills Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems Familiarity with steel products (gauges, sizes, heat numbers, etc.) Experience building or improving inventory control processes
