Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are looking for a Parts & Inventory Specialist to support the mechanical team by ensuring availability and organization of our mechanic shop's inventory. The Parts & Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining an organized parts inventory to support shop and field mechanics. This role ensures timely and accurate distribution of parts, maintains inventory levels, and supports overall shop efficiency through organization, procurement, and collaboration with the mechanical team.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Parts Distribution:
  • Receive parts requests from mechanics and accurately pull required items from inventory
  • Provide parts directly to shop mechanics or coordinate with parts runners for field delivery
  • Ensure timely fulfillment of all parts requests to minimize downtime
Inventory Management:
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the inventory management system
  • Track quantities, usage trends, and reorder needs
  • Perform routine cycle counts and a full monthly inventory audit
Procurement & Vendor Coordination:
  • Order parts, tools, and shop supplies from approved vendors and suppliers
  • Monitor stock levels and proactively reorder to maintain optimal inventory
  • Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and delivery timelines
Cleanliness & Organization:
  • Keep the parts room clean, well-organized, and clearly labeled
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of all inventory items
  • Continuously improve layout and processes for efficiency
Shop Support:
  • Assist shop mechanics with basic tasks as needed
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
Qualifications & Skills:
  • 1+ years in inventory management and parts coordination in a mechanical shop environment preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Computer skills and experience with inventory and project management systems
  • Ability to lift and move parts and supplies up to 50 lbs.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Mechanical knowledge or familiarity with parts
  • Reliability and accountability
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Physical Demands & Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in confined or elevated spaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Manual dexterity to handle parts, tools, diagnostic equipment, and welding equipment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and access heavy equipment components at various heights.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone or radio in high-noise environments.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly wage based on experience, with overtime opportunities and benefits package. This position plays a critical role in keeping high-production grading equipment operational and minimizing downtime on large-scale earthmoving projects.
