We help people achieve well-being, health and stability. For more information about JFS, please visit www.jfsseattle.org We are currently seeking a Food Bank Inventory Specialist to join our Food Bank team. The Food Bank Inventory Specialist plays a vital role in our food access programs which include the Polack Food Bank, Food Bank Home Delivery, monthly Eastside Food Bank, and newly developing projects. This position is involved in major events such as the Annual Food Drive/Food Sort and holiday programs. Work is performed primarily in the Seattle office. Heavy lifting is required daily and ability and willingness to drive a commercial-type van are necessary. Mandarin speaking capability a plus. This role is currently a full-time (37.5 hours a week), temporary position for a length of 1 year. We welcome and encourage you to apply if you feel connected to JFS' mission. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Takes primary responsibility for monitoring and managing inventory.
This includes:
picking up, receiving, and unpacking deliveries on a daily basis; tracking what items are running low and ordering in a timely manner; ensuring that product is rotating in a manner that distributes goods before they spoil; and cultivating relationships with vendors and donors. May involve daily lifting of up to 50 pounds of product. Serves as point person for day-to-day operations in the food bank including: being on-site for case manager visits, community donations, and inquiries from the community Staffs food bank during distribution hours assisting with set-up and providing customer service to clients during check-in and food distribution Inputs client information into Salesforce database Provides oversight and direction for volunteers at various sites Maintains relationships with funders and multiple local farms to grow our local food sourcing Participates in special projects such as food drives, packaging events, and other activities Takes shared responsibility for keeping work areas and food bank organized and clean Drives commercial type van to pick up or deliver products from/to various locations Provides secondary staffing for the Home Delivery Program. This includes though not limited to: providing orientation and supervision for volunteers and completing home deliveries as needed Provides weekend staffing for home delivery program, gleaning, and some special events Ability to approach community members with a lens of compassion and support and to model trauma informed care with each individual De-escalate altercations and conflicts as needed Ability to engage the community in conversation and assist in supporting those who may be having a hard time in a busy environment Participates in team discussions and contributes to the vision of our food bank's evolution to better meet the needs of our community, including pilot projects such as online ordering Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in social service setting desired Ability to safely lift 50 lbs repeatedly Excellent customer service skills Excellent conflict management, written and oral skills Highly organized, detailed, and flexible Must be comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds and familiar or interested in the issues of hunger and homelessness in Seattle Ability to work both independently and collaboratively WA State Driver's License and ability and willingness to drive a commercial style van WA State Food Handler's Permit (can be obtained post-hire) Fluency in Mandarin a plus Basic computer skills and familiarity with Outlook, Word, and Excel; ability and interest in learning Salesforce database
