To achieve our mission, we provide access to nutritious foods through our grocery model food bank, Kindness Café, and Community Resource Hub, which encompasses financial resources, referral, and mail services that support self-sufficiency. We also advocate for food equity and justice. Our home, which opened in October 2021, serves as a Hub for Hope as it brings together food, services, and community partners in a one-stop shop. POSITION SUMMARY
Ballard Food Bank is hiring a Warehouse & Inventory Specialist with inventory management experience to oversee the flow of dry goods through the food bank. This hands-on role manages grocery inventory and rotation and works closely with warehouse and market staff and volunteers to move product from intake to distribution in the community market and other programs. It's a great fit for someone who enjoys an active work environment, creating structure and systems, and working as part of a mission-driven team.Responsibilities:
Manage dry goods intake, storage, and rotation adhering to USDA food safety protocols Interface between market and warehouse to coordinate stocking needs, ensuring market is stocked throughout the day Collaborate across teams to allocate items to food bank programs as dictated by need and supply Develop and implement accurate inventory tracking processes and warehouse layout and organization strategies Conduct regular inventory, providing input on ordering and donation asks Lead volunteers in processing deliveries and donations, developing and implementing SOPs Perform food donation pick-ups, utilizing a food bank van or 18-foot box truck Build positive relationships with vendors and donors through efficient and welcoming receipt of goods Oversee unloading of bulk deliveries, including moving boxes of up to 50 lbs. and operating both manual and electric pallet jacks Maintain organization and cleanliness in the warehouse and parking lot space, supporting set up and break down between different activitiesSkills/Qualifications:
Prior warehouse experience in a grocery store and/or food distribution environment Prior experience managing inventory and developing tracking systems Ability to collaboratively problem-solve on the fly, taking initiative and working comfortably in a fast-paced environment Aptitude for fostering an energizing and collaborative environment with people from diverse backgrounds Strong delegation, coordination, and communication skills Experience leading and engaging volunteers, including giving feedback and guidance Prior experience driving a 15+ foot box truck in urban streetscapes Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, maneuvering in and out of a van or truck, and spending most of the time on your feet Valid US driver's license with a clean and safe driving record Commitment to Ballard Food Bank's mission and core valuesHours:
This is a full-time in-person position, working Monday through Thursday, with evening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ballard Food Bank currently works a 35-hour work week.Salary & Benefits:
