Temporary Fuel Reduction Project Lead Position Summary:
The Part-time Fuel Reduction Laborer will work up to 20 hours per week on the Middletown Rancheria under the supervision of the Fuel Reduction Project Lead. This position is responsible for tasks under the CalFIRE Fire Prevention Grant. The goal of this grant is to maintain and manage all hazardous fuel in order to create defensible spaces on the Ignome and Martin Properties.Job Requirements:
- Must be self-motivated
- Must be competent in completing assigned projects
- Must be able to read and understand basic safety procedures and precautions
- Must work cooperatively with other employees, Tribal Members, Tribal Council and the general public
- Must have ability to fulfill work schedules routinely and punctually.
- Must be able to perform physical labor
Duties:
Examples of duties include, but are not limited to:- Timely completion of assigned tasks, in a safe manner
- Maintain equipment, supplies and tools in good working order
- Hand cut, pile and shred fuels around homes and along roads
- Assist in clearing of brush, wood and weed cutting, and land clearing responsibilities
- Hauling of fuels to a central location to be handled
- Maintain worksite order and cleanliness, and on-hand inventory of supplies neatly stocked
- Follow all policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as may be required by the position, or as directed by the Supervisor, Environmental Director or Tribal Council.
Position Qualifications:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking; bending, reaching, and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard equipment, such as, but not limited to, chain saw, weed eater equipment, and gardening equipment.
- Valid driver's license
- Residence and/or familiarity of the Middletown Rancheria is preferred.
- Employee understands this is a temporary, grant-funded position with a specified period not to exceed, March 15, 2026.
- This position may have varying hours, including weekends, not to exceed 20 hours per week.
