Description
Perform collection duties while positioned at or near the rear of the collection vehicle, maintaining constant awareness of traffic, pedestrians, and vehicle movement.
Operate automated cart-tipping or lifting equipment in accordance with training, keeping hands, feet, and body clear of moving parts at all times.
Assist the vehicle operator in maintaining compliance with all OTC vehicle operation and safety policies, including clear communication before vehicle movement.
Assist the operator with required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections as assigned, reporting visible defects or unsafe conditions.
Assist the operator in following assigned collection routes and service procedures while maintaining safe positioning on and around the vehicle.
Follow all procedures for vehicle unloading and material handling at the OTC Materials Recycling Facility.
Correctly and consistently use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including high-visibility apparel, gloves, safety-toe footwear, and additional task-specific PPE as required.
Maintain a professional and courteous manner when interacting with residents and customers.
Follow OTC policies for identifying and reporting improperly prepared or contaminated recyclable materials.
Communicate promptly and accurately with the operator regarding collection issues, traffic hazards, unsafe conditions, or service concerns.
Maintain safe footing and three points of contact when mounting or dismounting the vehicle and when working on uneven, wet, or slippery surfaces.
Promptly report all injuries, near-miss incidents, vehicle-related hazards, and unsafe conditions to the operator or supervisor.
Willingly and effectively cooperates with OTC, The Department of Human Services, The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), and other licensing or state agencies or local municipalities in any inspections and investigations, upon request.

Physically capable of performing continuous walking, lifting, and climbing throughout the workday
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to safely lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds

This position is considered safety-sensitive. Pre-employment and random drug testing is required in accordance with company policy. Employee must cooperate with the licensee and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation. Employee must submit to a criminal background check and be determined to not be disqualified by the Department of Human Services (DHS) prior to working with individuals served. Employee shall agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities. Employee shall submit to drug testing conducted randomly and for cause. Employee shall complete an application to have their name checked against the Child Abuse Registry (CARI). Summary Visits residential communities throughout Burlington County on a daily basis to collect recyclable materials while working on or near the rear of a collection vehicle in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
