We currently have an opening for a Driver Helper in Carteret, NJ. $26.00 per hour, OT paid after 45 hours Monday to Friday 6:00-7:00AM start time
Position Summary:
The Driver Helper assists a Class A CDL driver with daily transportation duties, supporting safe and efficient delivery of freight. This role involves loading/unloading, securing cargo, guiding the driver during maneuvers, and providing general support to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. The Driver Helper does not operate the vehicle but plays a key role in delivery operations. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Assisting the driver with loading and unloading freight, including heavy or bulky items Helping secure loads to ensure DOT-compliant load safety Providing guidance during backing, parking, and tight maneuvering to maintain safety Handling paperwork, delivery receipts, load manifests, and verify item counts Communicating with dispatch and customers as needed to support the driver Ensuring cargo is properly staged and organized for efficient delivery Operating pallet jacks, dollies, or lift gates (if applicable) Following all company safety guidelines, PPE requirements, and DOT regulations Supporting the driver in resolving delivery issues, customer concerns, or access challenges To be qualified for this position, you must possess the following: High school diploma or equivalent preferred Ability to lift 50-100 lbs repeatedly and work in physically demanding environments Understanding of basic freight handling and safety practices Ability to follow instructions and work safely around large vehicles and equipment Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work long shifts
Work Environment:
Outdoor work in various weather conditions Physically demanding tasks such as lifting, climbing, pulling straps, and walking long distances Early morning, late night, or overtime schedules may be required Work takes place in warehouses, docks, customer locations, and inside trailers For a full job description associated with this posting, please contact A.
