NATURE OF WORK
Full time, regular non-exempt position that performs manual labor at all owned and operated Authority facilities, to include litter pick up, fence reparations and other duties as required. The employee must be able to operate station equipment and must be able to move about the work environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Picks up blowing litter and debris Constructs and builds fencing to control windblown litter Assures that refuse remains in the area is not hauled away as salvage Performs vehicle load inspections and monitors incoming loads for unacceptable materials Keeps work area clean and free of debris to prevent damage to incoming vehicles May be required to assist in maintaining and operating equipment in absence of regular operator Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) One (1) year of full-time experience performing laborer or landfill duties Basic computer skills is required. Licenses/Certification(s): A valid driver's license is required. Must maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with SCSWA policy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Basic knowledge of laws, regulations and ordinances affecting the environmental processes. Skills in safely operating equipment. Ability to perform functions with minimal supervision; interact diplomatically with public in order to assure compliance with regulations; establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with public and co-workers.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL FACTORS
Essential duties are performed 100% outdoors with exposure to all types of weather conditions. Employees are exposed to precarious situations, fumes and airborne particles, potentially toxic, and/or caustic chemicals, and extreme temperatures. Use of safety shoes, glasses and other equipment is required. Heavy physical work involves frequent bending, kneeling, and stooping; lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; pushing trash containers weighing up to 500 lbs., visual acuity and auditor/communication abilities sufficient to perform essential functions.
WORK SITUATION FACTORS
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to operate equipment assigned to the site and move throughout the work environment. Ability to frequently lift or reposition up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 180 pounds with appropriate equipment or assistance. Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations, including compliance with 49 CFR Part 40 and SCSWA policies.

$15.00 - $21.13 per hour
