WWTP Laborer

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Under close and continuous supervision, performs manual tasks associated with the maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities, equipment and systems; cleans and provides custodial care for facilities; assists with the repair of equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below. An example of an acceptable qualification for this position is: Completion of ninth school grade education, plus the ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds and demonstrate physical fitness necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the classification. Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license, and maintain continuing eligibility for insurance coverage under the existing vehicle insurance policy held by the County.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

(The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification.) 40-60% (1) Performs manual tasks associated with the maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment, facilities, collection systems and associated areas (e.g., operates lawn mowing equipment, removes snow and ice, digs holes and trenches, etc.). 20-30% (2) Cleans and maintains facilities (e.g., settling tanks, sewers, screening equipment, etc.); sweeps and mops floors; washes walls, windows, furniture and fixtures; provides general custodial care. 20-30% (3) Assists operators and other personnel with a variety of tasks associated with the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment, facilities and collection systems (e.g., transports tools, equipment and supplies, digs and backfills ditches, unblocks sewers).
